We at <a href="http://www.thehypetrain.co.uk">The Hype Train</a> will be providing a regular series of Power Rankings updates throughout the season for each position in the traditional Fantasy Premier League game for our partners at the Fantasy Football Hub. We will be picking our top five picks for Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders, and Forwards, providing a graphical aid for each chosen player, and the reasoning behind our choices. All aboard.
<h3>How do our Power Rankings work?</h3>
We use player form, fixtures, potential, and our own gut instinct, to form our own opinionated view on who we believe is the best asset for each position in the FPL. Each position (Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, and Forward) has differing criteria which can help generate FPL points on a weekly basis, whether for short term gain or for the long haul.
For the purpose of this article we will list our top 5 and follow up with a player on the rise in that position to also consider.

<h3>Forward Power Rankings: Gameweek 6</h3>
Forward players are at the heart of what makes the FPL tick. The 2017/18 Premier League season arguably has the deepest array of Forward&#8217;s in the FPL game since its launch, with most clubs offering a serious option in attack. A lot of FPL teams are centred around their attacking players providing massive returns as they climb the rankings tables, so it will be a massive plus to see their chosen three featured highly on a Power Rankings chart.
We profile what we believe to be the best five Forwards in the FPL game right now after Gameweek 5 and heading into Gameweek 6.

1) Romelu Lukaku (MUN)

Regaining his place at the top of the Power Rankings after the late show against his former club, Everton, Romelu Lukaku and the millions that back him must surely be content with his position in the FPL after a goal-laden opening five Premier League fixtures.
A brace against West Ham during Gameweek 1 opened Lukaku’s account, which was followed by a goal against Swansea, before missing a penalty against Leicester during Gameweek 3, which resulted in 37% of the FPL left utterly frustrated with a zero-point performance from the Belgian forward. During Gameweek 4, Lukaku resumed normal business adding a fourth Premier League goal of the season against Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium. Lastly, Lukaku added a goal and an assist against his former club, Everton, and celebrated wildly with the fans, with many believing he would show respect to the Toffees.

Put simply, Lukaku looks like he can score in every game, and with the exception of the Leicester game (which he should have scored in with the penalty miss), the Belgian forward has scored in every game, including goals in the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.
Goals are the recipe for FPL players to salivate over, and despite Lukaku’s ownership slightly chipping away due to Aguero’s rapid couple of Gameweek’s, why would you compromise a formula that is working? Lukaku’s joint-second in the overall player rankings with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and only four points behind Aguero, so there is no reason to change your mind with Lukaku (if the thought had dared to cross your mind).

Last week’s top spot in the Power Rankings, Alvaro Morata, has been pegged down to size after a frustrating 0-0 home draw with Arsenal during Gameweek 5, which ended his two-game scoring streak.
Heavy favourites heading into the clash of luxury London teams, it was not a crazy bet to have Morata as one of the standout FPL options during the game. After all, Arsenal had lost both of their previous away games to Stoke and Liverpool without scoring. What wasn’t anticipated was Chelsea overall looking a shade second-best against the Gunners, with Morata lacking service and a killer sting in the tail to add to the five goals already shipped by Arsene Wenger’s men on their travels this season.
What was killer though was Alvaro Morata’s first yellow card of the season for descent to an official, and then watching Sead Kolasinac getting away with the same crime minutes later. Before wearing the blue of Chelsea Morata’s ill-discipline was highlighted by many, managing to get booked on eight occasions in La Liga last season, despite only starting fourteen league games, with twelve appearances from the bench.

With Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, and Spurs, all playing away from home this weekend, most of the forward choices will be debated amongst FPL managers, and there is no reason to suggest that Morata won’t bounce back immediately with a goal against Stoke at the weekend, as all clubs have potentially tricky ties, albeit excluding Man City, who entertain lowly Crystal Palace at home.

Two is always better than one, right? That’s the motto with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, who both feature in the Power Rankings, with Jesus maintaining his fourth spot, and Aguero coming in as a new entry at number three.
It’s been a lethal couple of weeks for Man City. Ruthless in victories against Liverpool (5-0), Feyenoord (4-0), and Watford (6-0), Pep Guardiola’s side have averaged five goals per game in their last three matches, which is absurdly high regarding of who you play for.
In the Premier League, Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick against Watford during Gameweek 5 means he is the joint-top scorer in the league with five goals, sharing top-spot with Man United’s Romelu Lukaku.
In the case of Aguero, it’s another case of amassed FPL frustration for the Argentine forward, with a substitute appearance against Bournemouth ringing the alarm bells of -135,729 players, who immediately shipped out Aguero, before a small run of four goals and two assists from his last two fixtures. Now, in the days after the Watford decimation, Aguero’s ownership has nearly double, and currently sits at 21.5%, a figure that will certainly rise before the Gameweek 6 deadline.
Supporting Aguero, and not to be forgotten in the equation, Gabriel Jesus has maintained his fine form, scoring four goals in the last three matches, all whilst being heavily game managed by Pep Guardiola, with the Brazilian yet to complete ninety minutes of action in the league (but not that he needs it).

With Man City firing on all cylinders, and the only top six club at home, both Jesus and Aguero are worthy picks for the captaincy armband when Crystal Palace, who have yet to score, come to the Etihad for Gameweek 6.

The final spot in the Power Rankings this week goes to Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, who beat competition from the falling Roberto Firmino of Liverpool, who misses out entirely after a run of two games without a goal. Jamie Vardy’s been cutthroat though in recent weeks, and there’s no room for sentimentality amongst FPL rivals.
The Leicester forward is the third top forward in the FPL right now, with four goals this season, though he is a doubt for the second visit of Liverpool this week, after Vardy was substituted in the 1-1 away draw at Huddersfield with a groin problem.
Leicester have won their previous three home matches against Liverpool, with Vardy scoring in consecutive Premier League matches against the Reds at the King Power. This means that if Vardy plays, he’s got history on his side, and with injury doubts to both Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren, it could be another long afternoon for a Liverpool defence that continues to leak goals for fun.
Jamie Vardy’s also scored two of the eight penalty kicks awarded in the Premier League this season, which has been a crucial factor to the 11% that own the English international, having scored from the spot in consecutive matches against both Chelsea and Huddersfield.

One to consider: Tammy Abraham (SWA)
Swansea have only scored in one game this season, in a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace during Gameweek 3. On that day Tammy Abraham scored his first goal of the season and despite defensive options being more attractive for FPL players right now, Swansea’s run of fixtures offers a cheap route into potential wildcard teams for Abraham suitors. The forward, who has just pledged his international future with England, has a decent run of fixtures if you’re looking for a budget third option in attack.
