Hello again to Hub members from last season, and any people who are new to the site. If you don't know me, my name is Richard Clarke - I've been playing FPL for many years now and last year contributed the 'Shouldn't happen to a Vet' strategy series to the Fantasy Football Hub. This aimed to give some strategic advice during the final few weeks of the season.
This article is intended to share my personal strategy for getting ready for a new FPL season. Over the last fourteen years, I have broadly prepared my team for Gameweek 1 using the same approach.
I am hoping this simple approach may save some players a little time in the next few weeks, particularly if they are simply looking to set up a balanced team to make a solid start.
Start with a clear head!
My first piece of advice is to begin thinking about your team when you are ready to. FPL can be very time consuming and often obsessive, so I really like to take a break from looking at it for a couple of months in the summer. This ensures I start planning for the new season feeling enthusiastic and objective. If you're still not ready and enjoying the summer, keep going! This approach can be applied in the few days before the season starts!
