FPL Gameweek 22 Best Players & Formation
Given that we have a Double Gameweek with eight teams, and fantasy managers are eyeing up the Free Hit chip, this best team will be hotly anticipated!
To start with, I’ve selected the top three players in the Prediction Tool for Gameweek 22. For once, budget didn’t have to be considered here.
Harry Kane (£12.2m) gets top billing, with three goals in his last four games. The headache here is the absence of his strike partner Heung-Min Son through injury, but he is top for shots over the last four games with 18.
He’s joined by a pair of Manchester United strikers who are far from harmonious right now: Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m).
Ronaldo is currently flagged with a knock and Fernandes has played just 120 of the last 270 minutes, which brings question marks for both of them.
Ronaldo has two goals and an assist in his last four games and should be on penalties, but if he is rotated then Fernandes could step up – he’s scored five goals this season.
FPL Gameweek 22 Best Forwards
We have gone with three forwards for our FPL Gameweek 22 team. Ivan Toney (£6.6m) joins Kane and Ronaldo with a much cheaper price tag. He has four goals this season, but hasn’t converted since returning from injury in Gameweek 19.
FPL Gameweek 22 Best Midfielders
A pair of Leicester midfielders make the cut here: Harvey Barnes (£6.5m) and James Maddison (£6.9m). There’s big potential for the Foxes duo to play advanced roles, considering Jamie Vardy is out with injury and Kelechi Iheanacho on International duty.
Maddison had an excellent December, with four double digit returns in his last six games, and should recover from the knock sustained against Liverpool. Barnes has a goal and an assist in his last two starts.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo (£5.3m) completes the set, having bagged an assist against Southampton in midweek. That was his fifth attacking return of the season.
FPL Gameweek 22 Best Defenders
Burnley assets will be popular given their pair of fixtures, with centre-backs Ben Mee (£4.8m) and James Tarkowski (£4.9m) being preferred by the algorithm. Mee has two goals this season, with Tarkowski registering one goal and two assists.
Marcos Alonso (£5.7m) is the only premium asset in the back-line, with one goal and three assists this season. It’s difficult to rate his chances against Manchester City though.
FPL Gameweek 22 Best Goalkeepers
Nick Pope (£5.4m) completes the XI, with three clean sheets this campaign. He’s made 46 saves and picked up bonus points on one occasion. Having two home games could help his clean sheet prospects.
FPL Gameweek 22 Best Team
The FPL Gameweek 22 Best Team contains a triple up from the Burnley defence and double ups on the Manchester United, Leicester City and Brentford attacks.
There’s plenty of differential options in here to help boost you up the ranks.
