The way I see it Andrew, is to set yourself a captaincy points target:

Goal and assist, Assist and clean sheet etc.

If your player meets this expectation then stick, if not roll onto the next one...

Thanks for clarifying Ian. I think that's pretty much what I'd concluded but good to have it verified by someone more in the know.

Hi Guys,

Really pleased that these forums have proved popular and the community is growing. I'm keen to make them the best they can be and just come across another type of forum that looks really good.

I have created a test page here  https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/community/

Advantages

  • Slick, modern and way more user-friendly
  • A lot of really nice features that this one doesn't have
  • Super responsive.
  • Advanced user profiles, including rating and badges.
  • Integrates with current profiles (so no need to create anything new).

Cons

  • Doesn't support 'threaded replies' like this forum - you have to 'quote replies'. This is typical of most other forums.

Feel free to have a play around. If I get a positive response, I may switch it today.

I got to say that does look very neat Will. Be keen to shift over!

Having been on previous forums, I'm used to not having the nested replies - the quote system does work well.

Righto, you have probably noticed we have switched forums. Postive response from this layout, so thought it best just to go for it. Let me know what you think!

Liking this a lot. Fantasy community seem to be missing a clean forum system. Hope to pop in here more  🍺

So how is everyone getting on then?

Golovin my only success so far... Didn't see that Ron hattrick coming!

Golovin here also... last minute switch in thankfully  😊

But yeah, pretty much blank everywhere else. Missed Ron haul as well, but think quite a few did

Same here Pinky. Complete blanks so far!

Most of my team yet to play though, so there's still hope.

Nice work on Golovin Sophie and Ste

Cavani post, Cueva missed pen, & still no attacking returns here either unless you count Meza winning a pen. Really hope my remaining players can turn it on & quickly!

Agree @pmj1981, greizman my only points as captain so far. Debating whether to stick or twist?

I was wondering if you were the same Sophie! Figured there could be too many Sophie's that play FPL 😁

How's it going so far for everyone? My team has underperformed massively but sticking by them for the most part for the next round. Big hopes for Cavani in round 2 and I've used my one free substitute to swap Jesus for Costa. I reckon I'd have a fair shout of a few goals standing upfront for Spain so can see him grabbing some more points. Planning for a wildcard for round 3 I think.

Round 1 was going okay (albeit not spectacularly) until that Colombia match. J-Rod 0, C. Sanchez -3, and a -7 point swing, wonderful stuff!!!

Anyone tempted to blast the wildcard early after a difficult first round? Have so many big names that misfired in Muller, Cavani, Jesus, J-Rod, Danilo & Kimmich; but they are big names for a reason so is it time to #stick or twist?

Also, looks like Neymar limped out of a training session today. Just back from injury so how big an affect does that have on Brazil if its serious? Was wondering what to do with Jesus anyway but this confuses the matter further.

56 points here.. so OK, but nothing special.

I have had a manic day at work and just played my wildcard within the last 20 minutes. Was always the plan, but wasn't supposed to be so rushed!

Personally, I think now is the best time to play it, but time will tell.

Did you take the plunge @pmj1981?

I went for Costa in my WC @kennym01r, looks great value

I did Will, although it was completed with around 5mins to spare so was a bit rushed.

Probably could have got by with the team I had but the fixtures looked decent enough to attack with the WC. So much so that I pulled the Bench Boost while I was at it 🤞🏻

Be interested to hear how your wildcards go. I'm sticking with my team for now. Actually now starting to question whether I may keep them as is through all group games and save the wildcard. As I see it the majority of players I have are still going to have something to play for in Round 3 and so are unlikely to be rested. After that I can completely revamp my team ahead of the next stage. Ahead of the quarters though you only get 3 free transfers and subject to results your team may need major surgery at that point so seems sensible now to me to save the wildcard for then??

I had 49 in the first phase - 10 point captain and a sending-off :(

Will be looking to WC on Sunday ready for final group games - hopefully we'll know which teams will need to field strong sides.

That's not a bad strategy Ian.

WC hasn't gone great so far for me.

Anyone played their chips?

48 in round one so I'm calling that a solid mid-table opener. Had been on 56 but then Colombia happened.

WC & BB in play for me this week. Has started ok but could be wasted if I continue my inability to hit a (C).

One of many plausible strategies that Ian, and one I had earmarked until round 1 ended so sourly. Having used mine already, I'm very aware that (C) choices will be tougher to hit in round 3  - only 4 gamedays instead of 6, with 2 groups playing per day -  so a WC should allow you to pick out the main options from each day should you need it.
