Over half of the Watchlist who played delivered a return last week so congratulations if you have followed!

One of the top pieces of FPL advice I follow is to always look ahead to a minimum of 3 weeks in advance when making transfers and try to focus on fixing the weakest link. This helps build and maintain a well-rounded team with good depth and good point-scoring potential all over the pitch rather than relying on just a few key players each week. In my opinion far too much thinking is spent on who to captain each week, rather than how to maximise your budget across your squad, spending money in the right places, maintaining structural flexibility and ensuring a continual influx of points from across your team. Successful FPL managers have well-balanced teams with a focus on value all over the pitch; the boring moves are the winning moves and the difference between finishing in the top 200k and the top 20k.

The Watchlist is focussed on lesser obvious picks (under 10% ownership) with potential good value that can keep our scores ticking along whether the big boys fire or not. They are not sexy nor exciting and I’m not saying to bring them in right away, but they are players that I feel can offer great value to a squad over the medium term and give those extra few points in the background that we all crave each week. I will also highlight the key players I am thinking on bringing in over the next week or two.

Removed from Watchlist

Davies – 5.8m (Spurs) – 4.3% owned

With Rose staying he is an unnecessary and expensive rotation risk. The money is probably better spent elsewhere.

Pereyra – 6.3m (Watford) – 15.2% owned

Exceeded the <10% ownership criteria

Mitrovic – 6.7m (Fulham) – 19.1% owned

Exceeded the <10% ownership criteria

Moura – 7.3m (Spurs) – 17.3% owned

Exceeded the <10% ownership criteria

At Risk of Removal

There is no-one at risk of removal this week. If Tomkins returns, Kelly with be removed next week.

Keeping their place

Bennett – 4m (Wolves) – 9.1% owned

Very much 4m bench fodder but can come in if needed off the bench to bring in some reserve points. Only one difficult fixture in the next six. A return last weekend.

Ings – 5.6m (Southampton) – 6.4% owned

Has looked very dangerous over his first games which great stats and an eye for goal. Massively underpriced in my opinion due to him being priced as a Liverpool player. A Three difficult games in the next eight (including his parent club Liverpool who he cannot play against) which you could bench him for although I would consider playing him against the others. Another return last weekend.

Fraser – 5.5m (Bournemouth) – 6.1% owned

Playing very advanced for an attacking side and on some set pieces, highest xA (expected assists) in the league. Incredible run of fixtures with one difficult fixture in the next eight and at 5.5m looks a steal. Am certainly keeping in my team.

Jiminez – 5.5m (Wolves) – 5% owned

Very lively and a potential great 3rd striker pick at 5.5m. Scored on the opening day and is a real livewire who makes his own chances too. Only one difficult fixture in the next six.

Doherty – 4.4m (Wolves) – 0.7% owned

A very attacking full back who has nearly scored already this season and has looked very dangerous. Should have scored against City as well on the weekend before Boly threw it in. Has had a price drop so even cheaper. A return last weekend.

Kelly – 4.0m (Crystal Palace) – 6.1% owned

Could be the beneficiary of Tomkin’s injury if long term. 4.0m into a good defence with great fixtures is the dream! Awaiting confirmation of Tomkins’ return date.

Luiz – 5.5m (Chelsea) – 4% owned

5.5m for a nailed Chelsea defender is value however you look at it. Always a threat and has massively increased his number of passes since Jorginho’s arrival. Only two difficult fixtures in the next eight games point to plenty of points. A return last weekend.

Pereira – 5.1% (Leicester) – 5.2% owned

Played in right midfield again and looked dangerous. Leicester have a run of only one difficult game in the next ten.

Vardy – 8.9m (Leicester) – 3.1% owned

Has a glorious spell of fixtures starting with Bournemouth, Huddersfield and Newcastle. Is being widely ignored at the moment due to his ban, early investment could be a real differential particularly due to his awkward pricepoint.

Schurrle – 5.9m (Fulham) – 4.8% owned

Fulham look good going forward and only have two difficult fixtures in the next seven. A return last weekend.

New to the differential Watchlist

Maddison – 6.5m (Leicester) – 3.2% owned

Very creative and a great run of fixtures coming up. On set pieces and Vardy to aim for from this week.

Seri – 5.4m (Fulham) – 3.1% owned

Looks a real class act, playing more advanced in recent games with good players around him. Only have two difficult fixtures in the next seven.

Shaw – 5.1m (Man Utd) – 9.9% owned

On the cusp of the 10% ownership but if he is out for a week or so his ownership will drop in time for investment into a great run of fixtures. I am dubious he will retain the left back spot long term but at the moment it is his to lose and he is very attacking. Only two difficult fixtures in the next 10.
