Brief review of Double Gameweek 24

Huge swings in fortune for transfer and captaincy choices. The impact of injuries and rotation to key players was also massive with most FPL teams impacted in some way. Lady Luck certainly had her moment in the spotlight this week.

My Team in Double Gameweek 24

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and my decision only to spend a single transfer appears to have hurt my score and rank (but thankfully not too much)

I brought in Ben Mee (for James Justin) (after last week's article suggested either Matt Lowton or the Burnley captain would be a wise 'cover' choice). A concussion incident late in the Crystal Palace game put paid to Mee's double. The Lowton goal in the same game will be the stuff of legend for years to come. Huge swings there.

I ducked the opportunity to change the goalkeeper again. Alex McCarthy's double this coming week persuading me to save the transfer. I hope it eventually works out.

Captaincy fared better - with Ilkay Gundogan's amazing run of form continuing and a 38 point haul welcomed.  The German maestro then appeared to pull his groin and missed City's double against Everton.

Michail Antonio failed to make West Ham's canter against Sheffield United - so my bench was called upon again - this time Raphinha's assist coming to the rescue.

All this added up to a small red arrow loss of around 2500 places. I will happily settle for that as my rank was mightily exposed on Wednesday evening with only Joao Cancelo playing when other teams had 5 or 6 doublers and Sterling captain.

Double Gameweek 25 (and beyond..)

At time of writing, we still do not have confirmation of the Gameweek 26-28 fixture changes, so eagerly anticipated by fantasy managers.

As such, it doesn't feel right to play the second wildcard this week with regards to my own team. This could all change of course in the next few hours if fixtures are announced - so this article may not age well in the circumstances.

As I mentioned in my previous article - I am well set for this coming gameweek, which sees Leeds United and Southampton play their postponed Gameweek 19 double-fixture. I'm fairly determined to get something back out of this one - having prepared so diligently for it on my Gameweek 16 wildcard!

The popular trio of Patrick Bamford, Raphinha and Stuart Dallas are already in place for Leeds this week. I also have Alex McCarthy to cover the Saint's defence (if anyone would want such a thing..)

Chip Strategy

I've still got a 'Bench Boost' burning a hole in my pocket - so any transfers I make need to be working towards this ideally. That's tricky without confirmed fixtures, but further Southampton players, Aston Villa and Tottenham assets look like the best options while we wait for the precise schedule.
