Essential Everton FPL Stats | Attacking Numbers

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.0m) was fun to own at the beginning of last season. Both he and Everton’s defenders led their team to the 3rd most headed goals last season (14), while having only the 8th most headed goal attempts (89).

Most of these attempts unsurprisingly came from crosses from Lucas Digne (£5.5m) on the left. He deservedly gets a prominent spot in our article on best mid-priced FPL defenders 2021/22.

Everton had the most crosses from the left last season (377) compared to only 285 from the right and created 107 chances from their left compared to a 4th worst 88 chances from their right.

The heavy reliance on their left side made them quite predictable, limiting their upside. The Toffees have been linked with several players that indicate an intention to add creativity to their right. Among them are Denzel Dumfries, Leon Bailey and Samuel Chukwueze.

Everton frequently resorted to crosses in the opponent’s half, meaning they had the biggest drop in pass completion in the final third (5.4%).

Essential Everton FPL Stats | Defensive Numbers

Defensively, Everton have been a team of mistakes and recoveries. Indeed, when I think of Everton matches, I have a lasting memory of Jordan Pickford (£5.0m) yelling at everyone. Or maybe that’s a memory from the Euros.

In any event, his side committed the 4th most errors leading to a chance (13) but had the 5th most blocked shots (157). Pickford, an inconsistent goalkeeper and oftentimes a liability in my opinion, had the 4th most parries to opposition players (23).

He is in good form after Euro 2020, however, and could provide good early season value. Everton play the bottom three sides from last season in the first four gameweeks.

Lastly, Everton conceded 134 chances from the centre compared to 114 from the left and 119 from the right. According to my good friend @fpl_tornado, this could change if Jean-Philippe Gbamin (£TBC) is healthy and in form to play alongside Allan (£4.5m).

That change could solidify the centre of the field, and potentially allow Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.5m) to get forward more – like he did in his Watford days.

Doucoure is actually on my watchlist; he could present good value at £5.5m.
