<h1>Euro 2020 Fantasy Football Tips &#8211; Finland</h1>

<p><i>In this team preview series, Dan reviews all 24 teams participating in Euro 2020 and details their route from qualification, expected lineups, best player picks, under the radar gems and players to avoid.</i></p>

<h2>Route from qualification</h2>
<p>Finland scraped through their group in second place after winning six games and losing four. They did get past both Bosnia and Greece to qualify without the play-off process.</p>
<p>They only scored 16 goals, which was the joint-third lowest of all qualified teams (and they played 10 games, rather than eight). Their defence was a bit stronger, conceding 10 whilst <strong>Teemu Pukki</strong> scored 10 of the 16 goals. Finland did hold their own against Italy, losing 2-0 and 2-1.</p>
<p>Since qualifying, Finland finished second in the second tier of the Nation&#8217;s League, where they won four of their six matches (in a group with Ireland, Wales and Bulgaria). Both losses were against Wales.</p>
<p>They kept three clean sheets, and on average, their matches only had two goals. They are well-organised and attempt to sit back and play for 0-0s and 1-0 wins.</p>
<p>I would also like to point out their shock 2-0 win away at France (albeit was a second string opposition). It shows they have it in them to cause an upset.</p>
<p>This year they have placed twice in their World Cup Qualification Group, drawing to Bosnia 2-2 and Ukraine 1-1.</p>
<p>There is a chance they could recreate Iceland&#8217;s upset in 2016. My heart says they will, but my head says they will finish bottom of the group, failing to score.</p>

<h2>Finland Euro 2020 Expected lineup</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I expect them to line up in a 5-3-2 formation like so:</span></p>

<p><strong>Teemu Pukki</strong> faces a race against time to back in time, and should he not pass a fitness test for the first game, <strong>Joel Pohjanpalo</strong> is expected to step in.</p>
<p>It is a tight call at the left-wing back spot between <strong>Jere Uronen</strong> and QPR wing-back <strong>Niko Hämäläinen</strong>.</p>

<h2><strong>Finland Euro 2020 Best player pick:</strong></h2>
<p><strong>Teemu Pukki</strong> is the go-to Finnish pick. As mentioned previously, he scored 10 of their 16 goals in the qualifying and in his last four international starts, he has scored five of the six Finland goals so it is fair to say he is their talisman.</p>
<p>He has been on fire once again in the Championship, scoring 26 goals for the Canaries.</p>

<h2><strong>Under the radar players</strong></h2>
<p>Wing-backs <strong>Jere Uronen</strong> and <strong>Nikolai Alho </strong>play in more advanced positions than the other three defenders. However, because of Finland&#8217;s defensive style, it doesn&#8217;t mean too much at all.</p>
<p>The two of them combined only have two goal involvements in 56 international games. Uronen also faces a challenge from <strong>Niko Hämäläinen </strong>for the starting berth.</p>
<p><strong>Joona Toivio</strong> has three goals in his 70 caps and <strong>Paulus Arajuuri</strong> has three goals in 48 caps. If I was to go for a Finnish defensive player, I would go for <strong>Lukas Hradecky</strong> if the game included save points (he will need to make plenty), and the cheaper one of <strong>Toivio</strong> and <strong>Arajurri</strong> in a game that doesn&#8217;t score points for saves.</p>
<p>From the attacking perspective, I just don&#8217;t expect Finland to score enough (if any) goals to consider anyone. But in Pukki&#8217;s absence, <strong>Joel Pohjanpalo</strong> should step in alongside <strong>Robin Lod. </strong></p>
<p>The former has five goals in German Division 2, and has nine goals in his 2000 minutes of international football. He also scored a brace in Finland&#8217;s most recent game, a friendly against Switzerland, which they lost 3-2.</p>
<p>He will also take Pukki&#8217;s penalty duties, should the Norwich striker not make it back it time. Set-piece taker Lod only has four goals in 43 caps &#8211; only just a better record than central-defender Arajuuri.</p>
<h2></h2>
<h2><strong>Players to avoid:</strong></h2>
<p>Probably the whole squad! But hard avoids are the midfield three <strong>Glen Kamara, Rasmus Schüller and Joni Kauko.</strong> The three combined only have one goal in nearly 100 Finland games. Also avoid left-wing backs <strong>Hämäläinen</strong> and <strong>Uronen</strong>, as there is an uncertainty over which starts.</p>
