All I hear people talk about is Aguero and this seems to be the only fantasy topic.  Well, I’m chewing over the selection of toffees (Everton).  You may be thinking, I’ve lost my marbles with them being in the relegation zone and the narrative being how poor they have been this season.
Remember who they have played and that it was only a few weeks ago that people were thinking they could challenge for a top four spot.  So this article looks at the evidence of why this could be a viable option
<h3>Fixtures are turning</h3>
At the beginning of the season, people were saying Everton are a side to look out for, but wait for the fixtures to turn.  Now that Everton are in the relegation zone, the narrative seems to be that they are a poor team.  My forecasting model, originally forecast them to score 5.9 goals (conceding 8.6) in the opening 5 games. After adjusting for what spread firms offered reduced this too 4.7 goals (8.6 conceded).
I know they have only scored 2 and conceded 10.  However, there is an app called “infogol” which gives Everton as having an expected 0.9 goals per match (eg 4.5 goals for 5 games) from the chances they have created and concede 1.6 at chances they have given up (eg 8 goals).  So it seems they have been creating chances as expected.
In the next seven games they are forecast to score around 10.7 goals (rank 7th) and concede 6.5 (ranked 2nd)
<h3>Captain opportunities</h3>
GW 7 – Playing Sunday home to Burnley (Man City, Man U, Chelsea and Spurs playing on Saturday)
GW 8 – Playing Sunday away to Brighton (all of top 6 playing Saturday)
GW 9 – Playing Sunday home to Arsenal, other match is Spurs v Liverpool
GW 10 – Playing Sunday away to Leicester (all top 6 playing Saturday).
GW11 – Playing Saturday home to Watford, only Liverpool away to West Ham from the top 6 is playing.
With Europa league there maybe another Sunday captain opportunity in December.
<h3>Entry opportunity</h3>
If you have an injury, then you could make a transfer this week.  Otherwise, as mentioned above, Everton are playing next Sunday.  This means You can pick up your points from a player on the Saturday, transfer him out and play an Everton player on the Sunday.
<h3>Which player?</h3>
This depends on what tinkering is possible and the balance of your team.  A defender is an option, with Everton expected to concede so few in the coming games.  However, if the team is expected to be on top, this Is likely to mean reduce chance of tackle or MoM bonuses.
Further up field two players stand out, Sigurdsson and Rooney – both 10.4. <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">Stats</a> wise Siggy has had 17% of Everton’s SOT when he has played and 19% of key passes when he has played.  Rooney’s figures are 40% and 21% respectively.  I expect both these players will be in with a shout of MoM for these games.
For me, I recently transfer in Fabregas following the injury to Pogba.  Partly, with an eye on coverage for the Chelsea v Watford game.  This match has now been removed from Monday night and so don’t need a player to captain in this game.  I am leaning towards playing Fabregas this week and next Saturday and transferring to Rooney for the Sunday game (as captain).  However, I’ll watch Everton’s game this week and Thursday Europa League game on Thursday either to confirm my position or switch to Siggy.
