Gameweek 6 FPL Differentials

The Defender Differential – Ezri Konsa £4.6m, 7.0% owned

Aston Villa once again proved that they are a much-improved team this season with a 1-0 win over Leicester as they continue to be the only team in England’s top four divisions to not drop a point so far this season. One of the main reasons they are more improved are their defensive performances. This was seen at the end of last season, however, it was not clear whether this was caused by their fight to stay in the Premier League or actual improvements made. However, so far this season, they have conceded just two goals and have averaged just 1.25 big chances conceded per game which is the best in the Premier League. Both Targett (£4.5m) and Konsa (£4.6m) are good differentials costing less than Mings and Cash in the Villans’ defence. However, Konsa has been favoured here due to his higher goal involvement and the threat from set-pieces.

Combining with this improved form for Aston Villa’s defence, Aston Villa and Konsa rank fourth in the Fantasy Football Hub Fixture Ticker for the best fixtures over the next five Gameweeks. This is only behind Crystal Palace, Fulham and Wolves. These fixtures for Aston Villa include home matches against Leeds, Southampton and Brighton with away fixtures of Arsenal and West Ham. This could offer a good run of fixtures for Konsa to capitalise on and to continue his strong start to the season.

Aston Villa Defenders – Expected Points.

The Midfielder Differential – Christian Pulisic – £8.3m, 4.0% owned

One way of finding differentials is getting in players when they are fully fit having returned from injury. Last year in the 2019/20 season, Pulisic was the second-highest scoring Chelsea player per start, only behind Alonso, and averaged 5.86 points per game in the final nine Gameweeks of the season after the resumption of the Premier League. This season, Pulisic has featured once off the bench and then started in Gameweek 5 and in the Champions League, indicating that the American is fit again and ready to play. This season there has been a lot of focus on Werner (21.1% owned) and Havertz (8.8% owned), however, Pulisic could offer a well-proven differential at a cheaper price point than both of these players. In addition, Pulisic ranks 10th for predicted points amongst midfielders on the Hub’s Points Prediction tool.

One of the reasons for these predicted points is Chelsea’s run of fixtures over the next five Gameweeks that could offer a good platform for Pulisic to return to the form that was seen at the end of the 2019/20 season. These fixtures include home matches against Sheffield United and Tottenham as well as away fixtures against Manchester United, Burnley and Newcastle. These teams have conceded 44 goals already this season, averaging over 1.75 goals per game, indicating there should be goals for Chelsea and with the goal involvement of Pulisic of 29% last season, the winger should be involved.

Chelsea players – 2019/20 season – Points per Start

The Forward Differential – Sergio Aguero – £10.4m, 2.0% owned

Manchester City players have been a huge source of Fantasy Premier League points over the seasons and Aguero, when fit, is one of the main beneficiaries of these points. With this being said, Aguero has the highest points per 90 minutes played last season out of any forward in the Premier League with 8.16 points per 90 minutes with Martial quite a distance behind on 6.82. Part of the reason for this is Aguero is unlikely to remain on the pitch for the 90 minutes, however, Aguero still ranks second overall for forwards for points scored per game started last season with 6.28. With Jesus still being injured for Manchester City, Aguero could be able to string a number of starts together and if the Argentine can recreate his numbers and points from last season, he could be a good differential for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Aguero has the second-highest predicted points over the next five Gameweeks for forwards using the Hub’s Points Prediction tool. He is predicted to score 25.4 in the next five Gameweeks; this is ranked only behind Kane who is the second-highest owned forward behind Calvert-Lewin.

Manchester City have a strong run of fixtures over the next five Gameweeks that could allow Aguero to hit the ground running and get back to the form and goal-scoring ability that the he is known for. These fixtures are home games against Liverpool and Burnley, both of which currently have key injuries in their defence with Ben Mee, Alisson and Van Djik being out. These home fixtures amongst combined with away matches against West Ham, Sheffield United and Tottenham could be a good run for Aguero to get back to scoring ways.
