            <p><em>Who is the best <strong>FPL </strong><strong>Gameweek 20 captain?</strong> Our resident FPL captaincy expert <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisTanFPL">Chris Tan</a> takes a close look at the fixtures, poll and stats breakdown before concluding on his best pick for the armband. </em></p>

<h2><strong>FPL Double Gameweek 19 Recap</strong></h2>
<p>This Gameweek seemed to last forever and those that bench boosted or didn’t use any chips appear to have come away more satisfied that the triple captainers.</p>
<p><strong>The Challengers</strong> – the top of the league is starting to take shape now and it’s so tight that a few wins in a row can catapult you to the top. Both Manchester United and Leicester have shown that they need to be taken seriously.</p>
<p><strong>The Elite </strong>– with Liverpool faltering the door has been left open for Manchester City to exert their dominance and they certainly have the fixture run to do so.</p>
<p><strong>The Premiums </strong>– rewind a few weeks ago and we were adamant that you needed at least three premiums and were debating whether we could fit four into our squads. Now with <strong>De Bruyne (£11.9m) </strong>injured, <strong>Salah (£12.5m) </strong>blanking, <strong>Vardy (£10.1m) </strong>undergoing an operation and <strong>Fernandes (£11.3m) </strong>diminished with the re-emergence of <strong>Pogba (£7.7m)</strong>, there’s a strong case for spreading the wealth throughout your squad. It does make captaincy more difficult though unless you’re willing to look past the price tag.  <strong>   </strong></p>
<p><strong>Who to target</strong> – looking at the form tables it suggests that it’s well worth targeting Newcastle at the moment and Bruce looks like a dead man walking. Although, they picked up a win recently (against Newcastle), Sheffield United are on terrible form and are as good as down, and West Brom still haven’t tightened up.</p>

<p>On the whole it was grossly disappointing given that each pick had two fixtures, so <strong>Salah’s (£12.5m) </strong>four is effectively a double blank and I still can’t believe he didn’t start the last game.</p>
<p><strong>De Bruyne (£11.9m)</strong> did appear to justify being first choice and we can count ourselves unlucky that a 58<sup>th</sup> minute injury robbed us from a likely double-digit return.</p>
<p>Even the ever-consistent <strong>Fernandes (£11.3m)</strong> didn’t come away with much, as <strong>Pogba’s (£7.7m) </strong>return is stealing the limelight.</p>
<p>With the performance of the premium assets dwindling we may have to widen our approach until they get back on track.</p>

<p>Gameweek 20 fixtures are the reverse of Gameweek 13, here’s what happened last time:</p>

<p>City struggled to convert their chances against West Brom, but their one goal came from <strong>Gündogan (£5.5m)</strong>. Almost everybody scored for Leeds, which is usually the case and that’s what makes it hard to pinpoint one for captaincy. Both <strong>Salah (£12.5m)</strong> and <strong>Son (£9.5m) </strong>scored in this fiercely contested game. Lastly, <strong>Rashford (£9.6m) </strong>bagged a brace, but is he still as much of a threat playing from the right?</p>

<h3><strong>Old Hunting Ground – do any of the likely lads have a good history vs their opposition?</strong></h3>

<li><strong>Rashford (£9.6m) </strong>has an amazing record against Sheffield United, the only concern is that against weaker opposition he’s been shifted to the right to accommodate <strong>Pogba (£7.7m)</strong> on the left. Furthermore, he’s only picked up two assists at home and (like United in general) seems to perform a lot better away.</li>
<li><strong>Gündogan (£5.5m)</strong> not only scored in the reverse fixture this season, but in the away game in 16/17 he bagged two goals and an assist from the double pivot. Without De Bruyne he should be the penalty taker, which only adds to his appeal.</li>
<li><strong>Antonio (£6.3m) </strong>has a good record on the surface, however he’s never scored against Crystal Palace in the league, which is not what you want from a potential captain.</li>
<li><strong>Bamford (£6.7m) </strong>scored in the reverse fixture and he’s on penalties now.</li>
<li><strong>Salah (£12.5m) </strong>has a solid record against Spurs although he’s only recorded a single goal and assist away suggesting that (much like Liverpool’s form this season) he’s far more comfortable at home.</li>
<li><strong>Sterling (£11.4m) </strong>similar to Salah has only scored once away to his opposition.</li>
<li><strong>Kane (£11.2m) </strong>unlike the above two, Kane seems to fare better away with just two goals and an assist at home. However, the dynamic might change given that Liverpool will need to try to win this one and attacking Spurs might open them up.</li>
</ul>
<p>The records of the other candidates aren’t worth discussing. Although, it is a concern to see how poorly <strong>Fernandes (£11.3m) </strong>seems to fare against Sheffield United, especially considering how consistent he usually is and that he’s highly likely to be the top captaincy option this week.</p>
