<h2><strong>FPL Gameweek 22 Recap</strong></h2>
<p><strong>The Challengers</strong> – Manchester United answered their critics with an emphatic 9-0 thrashing of Southampton, and they sit second in the league. Leicester continued their excellent run and rumour has it both Vardy and Ndidi will be back soon to bolster the ranks.</p>
<p><strong>The Elite </strong>– Man City continue their rampage and if they beat Liverpool at the weekend, they will go 10 points clear with a game in hand. For Liverpool it’s looking like they won’t be in contention this year, however a result against City could change that perspective...</p>
<p><strong>The Premiums </strong>– Last week we were all seduced by <strong>Salah (£12.7m)</strong>, we knew that <strong>Mane (£11.9m) </strong>was unlikely to feature and that made him a prime captaincy pick. He managed four shots (three shots in the box) and two big chances (BC) against Brighton, but it was another blank. However, <strong>Fernandes (£11.4m)</strong> got back to business with a mega 17 point return. Was it a coincidence that he returned when <strong>Pogba (£7.7m)</strong> didn’t feature?</p>
<p><strong>Who to target</strong> – definitely West Brom and possibly: Arsenal (dependant on the impact of the injuries / suspension), Southampton (depending on how they respond) and Newcastle.</p>

<p>The poll winner and first choice have been going through a barren time recently, hopefully we will see some course correction, although I feel this weekend could throw out some shock results.</p>

<p><strong>Fernandes (£11.4m)</strong> smashed it with two goals and an assist for another 17 pointer. <strong>Watkins (£6.3m)</strong> scored a brace against Arsenal to pick up 13 points and you wouldn’t bet against that happening again given Arsenal’s injury and suspension issues. <strong>Salah (£12.7m) </strong>scored against City, not that he’ll be in the forefront of our minds regarding captaincy</p>

<li><strong>Fernandes (£11.4m)</strong> has an immense record against Everton. He hasn’t had the pleasure of playing against them at home yet and United are usually better away, although Southampton might have something to say about that.</li>
<li><strong>Grealish (£7.8m) </strong>– hasn’t returned against Arsenal at home yet, but he’s only had one occasion to try so far.</li>
</ul>
<p>The records of the other candidates aren’t worth discussing, although it is concerning to see how poorly <strong>Son (£9.7m)</strong> has done against West Brom. He’s featured as a sub an additional five times too and has never returned against them in the league.</p>

<p><strong>I’ve pulled the stats on Thursday prior to the Spurs v Chelsea game and used the last six Gameweeks (representing the stats as ‘per appearance’), as several teams have missed matches lately.</strong></p>
