Who is the best FPL Gameweek 38 Captain?
Our resident FPL captaincy expert Chris Tan takes a close look at the fixtures, poll and stats breakdown before concluding on his best pick for the best picks for the FPL captain's armband.
FPL Gameweek 37 Recap
The Challengers – Chelsea look to have cemented their top four place and Liverpool has hit form at just the right time. The FA Cup victory may turn bitter sweet for Leicester, as the goal difference means they’re reliant on one of the above two to slip up.
The Premiums – this wasn’t in the script, but both Salah (£12.8m) and Kane (£11.9m) blanked. Fernandes (£11.4m) worked his usual magic to pick up an assist without touching the ball, but even he had to make do with four points. It was very much a week for the differentials.
Who to target – Big Sam has packed his bag and they’re leaking goals. Burnley are too and Crystal Palace look ready for the beach
How have we done to date?
What a strange Gameweek. We were spoilt for choice and none of the main guys performed. Over the season, it’s interesting how similar our results have ended up being despite taking quite varying routes. I'm disappointed to not have outperformed the benchmark (poll winner) but overall it's been a solid performance.

Who do my Twitter followers think is the best FPL Gameweek 38 captain?
Old Hunting Ground – do any of the likely lads have a good record vs their opposition?
Salah (£12.8m) has some record against Crystal Palace. Last season he racked up a goal and an assist when he played them at home. With the golden boot up for grabs, there’s plenty of incentive.
Kane’s (£11.9m) record against Leicester is arguably even more impressive. He’s scored two hat tricks against them and half of his goals have come away from home.
Mane (£11.7m) is the model of consistency. Excluding his first game against Crystal Palace, he’s scored a goal in every single match against them. In the reverse fixture he was on a goal and assist, then Klopp rested him after 57 minutes. Mane was not impressed!
The other records are nothing worth getting excited about. However, things to note are that Aguero (£10.3m) hasn’t scored against Everton since 13/14. It looks like he’s injured now anyway, which might save us from making the same mistake we did with Silva last season.
Aubameyang (£11.3m) isn’t on form and should get a significant price drop next season. I uncovered an interesting Gameweek 38 stat on him. He’s returned in every Gameweek 38 since he joined Arsenal. In his first season he scored a goal, the season after it was two goals and last season it was two goals and an assist. The rate seems to be increasing and if there was ever a last ditch Hail Mary, then this might be it.
Antonio (£6.6m) scored again tonight and he’s closing in on Di Canio’s West Ham Premier League goal record. We can ignore his poor record, as he used to play as right back and he only moved to centre forward last season. When he played as a centre forward, he picked up a goal and an assist at home to Southampton last season.
