Position: Midfielder

Once the announcement was made that Ruben Amorim would take over at Manchester United, speculation arose about Amad Diallo potentially playing an interesting role in the Portuguese tactician&#8217;s 3-4-2-1 formation. 
The example of Sporting CP talent Geovany Quenda was brought up, as Amorim successfully converted the 17-year-old winger into a wing-back earlier this season. 
As it turned out, Diallo adapted to a similar role but has since taken on one of the two inside attacking midfield positions. 
Despite the transition, the United youngster has become a revelation in his first five matches under the new management. 
No player has been more impactful; Diallo has either scored or assisted a goal in each of his last five Premier League starts, with one goal and five assists to his name.
Given his budget-friendly price, coupled with his current form and United&#8217;s appealing upcoming fixture list, Diallo is a solid choice for a fifth midfielder.

Enzo Fernández (£5.1m) at Chelsea is another option worth considering, especially when you take into account his recent creative output. 
Across UEFA competitions and Europe’s top five leagues, Fernández has assisted the most goals (7) since November, with four of those coming in England’s top division. 
In his six league appearances, he has registered three goals along with four assists.

A series of injury setbacks allowed Kai Havertz to surpass Gabriel Jesus as Mikel Arteta&#8217;s first choice to lead his team over the last year or so. But are we in for a Christmas comeback?
 An impressive hat-trick in the EFL Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace served as a timely reminder of Jesus’ potential, especially in light of Havertz’s current struggles (he has only one goal in his last eight Premier League appearances). 
Arteta remarked after Jesus&#8217; treble, “Now we need to take it and give him more games and chances. It’s important to continue giving him opportunities when a player is in that kind of form.” This sounds ominous for Havertz. 
Arsenal have three winnable fixtures ahead (Crystal Palace away, Ipswich at home, and Brentford away). Jesus could be a strong differential option, as he is owned by less than 1% of FPL players. This could be a gamble worth taking.

One forward who is finding his form after a quiet period is Alexander Isak, and Newcastle have been in need of his contributions. 
He has six goals in his last eight matches, compared to just one goal in five earlier in the season. No other FPL forward is currently in better form. 
Across the whole league only Salah (8) has more goals than Isak (6), who has the highest non-penalty expected goals figure overall (5.31).
During the festive period, Isak will be on the road but will not face particularly tough defences, with upcoming matches against Ipswich (away), Aston Villa (home), Manchester United (away), and Tottenham (away) – all of whom have been conceding more than one goal per game

Only five Aston Villa players have an ownership exceeding 4%, with three in double figures. At the top is a player enjoying a breakout season, having already surpassed last year&#8217;s totals (his debut season) in appearances, goals, and assists. 
Given his strong early-season form and budget-friendly price, Rogers has quickly become a fixture in most FPL teams. 
The current ownership of 19.6% indicates that many are sticking with this Villa midfielder. However, if you&#8217;re among those holding onto him, you’ll probably have noticed he has only provided one attacking contribution in his last six league games. 
Aston Villa&#8217;s upcoming matches against Manchester City (home) and Newcastle (away) suggest that opportunities for goals and assists might be limited. 
Additionally, both Enzo Fernandez and Amad Diallo, who are in better form, are cheaper and have more favourable fixtures over Christmas.

Rayan Ait-Nouri is tied for the most goals and assists among defenders, with six contributions—three goals and three assists. However, FPL is a question of &#8220;what have you done for me lately?” 
Most of Ait-Nouri’s contributions (three goals and one assist) occurred between Gameweeks 6 and 9; since then, he has set up just one goal while keeping one clean sheet. 
Although his price tag is decent, the Wolves man has a form rating of just 0.8. 
He will only miss the next match against Leicester at home through suspension, but when he does return, Wolves embark on the most challenging run of fixtures you could imagine: Manchester United (H), Tottenham (A), Nottingham Forest (H), Newcastle (A), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (A), Aston Villa (H), Liverpool (A).

Currently, when it comes to chances created, Pedro Porro (24) ranks third in the standings among defenders, beneath Trent Alexander-Arnold (26) and Leif Davis (36). 
Overall, Porro has helped Tottenham keep four clean sheets in 14 appearances, registering two goals and two assists. 
However, he has only provided one assist from four chances created in December, during which he made four appearances but started in only two games, albeit coming on early against Southampton. 
Tottenham supporters are becoming impatient with his recent form ahead of upcoming matches that include Liverpool (H) and Nottingham Forest (A). The latter is rated as a two by FDR but is expected to be a more challenging game. 
Wolves (home) is a winnable match, but looking further ahead, Spurs will face Newcastle and Arsenal. At £5.6m there look to be better-value options for your FPL team’s defence.
