Matthew now goes through his current thoughts on Gameweek 1 and reveals his latest FPL draft.</em></p>
<h2>A Quick Recap</h2>
<p>First, a quick reminder - my first draft and general thinking around the start of the season was covered in some detail in this <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/gameweek-1-fpl-draft-by-fpl-matthew/">previous article</a>.</p>
<p>So, my initial draft can be seen below. It wasn't that long ago, but a week can be a long time in FPL and there have been some developments both in football and in my thinking since then!</p>

<h2>Recent Developments</h2>
<p>I will probably miss something but the key recent developments affecting my draft above in the last week or so include:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Matt Doherty</strong> has moved from Wolves to Tottenham</li>
<li>Arsenal have signed <strong>Gabriel</strong></li>
<li><strong>Nathan Ferguson</strong> has been pretty much confirmed as missing the start of the campaign</li>
<li>Leicester City have signed <strong>Timothy Castagne</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>To summarise my thoughts on the impact of these developments:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Doherty</strong> to Spurs - overall I feel that this might negatively impact his FPL returns. Spurs kept less clean sheets last season than Wolves and I have my doubts whether Mourinho will allow <strong>Doherty</strong> to hang around the penalty area quite so much as he did at Wolves!</li>
<li><strong>Gabriel</strong> to Arsenal - this puts <strong>Saliba's</strong> place much more in doubt</li>
<li><strong>Ferguson</strong> injury - self-explanatory</li>
<li><strong>Castagne</strong> to Leicester - although there is uncertainty around this as he can play various positions, one of those positions is right back, adding uncertainty to <strong>James Justin's</strong> place.</li>
</ul>
<p>There will be enough uncertainty around the start of a new season without adding known risks to my squad, therefore I have taken each of these four players out of my team as it stands.</p>
<h2>My Updated FPL Draft Shortlist</h2>
<p>Next, I have updated my shortlist - not a major update although I have added a few and removed a few. However, the other update is to the "Adj" formula for defenders and goalkeepers - I hadn't realised previously that the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">Hub Fixture Ticker</a> for defence is the other way around, i.e. low is good and high is bad - thanks to Hub member @phenZ for pointing this out.</p>
<p>To explain the columns:</p>
<ul>
<li>Player and £ - probably self-explanatory</li>
<li>No. - the number of players on my radar in that price range</li>
<li>Fix - the fixture difficulty factor, from the Hub's ticker</li>
<li>xPts - the average expected FPL points per appearance in the post-lockdown period (from the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/">Hub's Opta Stats tool</a>)</li>
<li>Adj - xPts adjusted for fixture difficulty (Fix multiplied by xPts for midfielders and attackers, xPts divided by Fix for goalkeepers and defenders)</li>
<li>Value - Adjusted figure divided by price</li>
</ul>
<p>N.B. The numbers highlighted pink are those with no GW1 fixture, orange is to show a current injury doubt and yellow is where we have no equivalent data from last season</p>
