Former HOF Number 1 FPL Manager Richard Clarke is an FPL veteran and has one of the most enviable best records out there, notching 2 top 500 finishes, 8 top 10k finishes and has never finished outside the top 0.5% in every single one of his 14 seasons.
Rich will be revealing his team on a weekly basis in 2020/21 season; providing observations and strategy comment where appropriate.
After writing a series of 'Vet's guides' over the last two seasons, I have decided to reveal my team for Hub members on a weekly basis. I like to play quite 'subjectively', so my articles won't be too stats heavy and I aim to make them quick and easy to read alongside some of the excellent other content on the Hub that provides the analytics.
I'm happy to answer members questions after the reveal is published, so please ping me a question in the comments and I'll try to help.
Gameweek 1 Performance - 61 points
Observations since last week
After a frenzied set of final transfers, the season got underway with a pretty high scoring game week and most players performing as expected.
I didn't get the Salah v Aubameyang captain call right (after much back and forth), but I won't worry too much about it. At least I own both players and they both scored points! It is often easier to look at it as a 'net 13 point loss' to Salah captainers, but anytime your captain gets a return, you should feel OK about it.
I was pretty pleased with the returns from James Justin and Timo Werner, but less impressed with the debut of Kai Havertz and the Southampton and Tottenham team performances.
It is only one week's worth of data though, and I'm a very patient FPL manager. 61 points is not spectacular but it was above average, so no need to panic into hits or wildcards yet!
Outside my team, I was impressed with Wolverhampton Wanderers - in particular Romain Saiss, Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence so I have my eye on their assets after the Manchester City clash this weekend.
Rhian Brewster's transfer speculation is also something I am closely monitoring. A move to Sheffield United would make a high potential £4.5m forward a real enabler for other premium positions. It looks like it will be a few more days at least before we are in the clear on this.
There is a bit of a scramble to acquire Manchester United assets this week before they rise in price. If I were to take a hit, it would likely be to bring in Bruno Fernandes (for Havertz) - enabled by the Brewster move or coming off Matt Doherty.
