<h3>GW9 review</h3>
Gameweek nine seems a lifetime ago. Some of our differential picks will live long in the memory, while others admittedly will benefit from the international break as time to forget!
For our differential XI, it was a case of the defensive players coming to the rescue of the attackers. The week started strongly as Brighton kept the clean sheet which felt long overdue. Captain Duffy scored 12 points, starting promisingly in our chase to beat the previous week&#8217;s record score.
Where Harry Kane failed to deliver for thousands of managers, Davison Sanchez took home bonus points and a clean sheet to justify his inclusion, while Wolves wing-back superstar Matt Doherty continued his amazing form with another goal and clean sheet.
No sooner had the digital ink dried on our post had an eagle-eyed Twitter follower, @SkyPlayerinFpl, questioned us dropping Alexandre Lacazette. In reality, our pick, So,n blanking like his more popular teammate Kane provided little comfort as Lacazette cruised to a 12-point haul. No prizes for guessing who had him as a Sunday captain!

<h3>Won&#8217;t get fooled again&#8230;</h3>
Alexandre Lacazette (£11.4m/6.86%) first appeared in our picks in GW8. It was a week too early. Despite registering an assist for a five-point haul, the Frenchman&#8217;s really came to life a week later. Two goals and a MOTM away to Fulham saw him score 17 points.
When we tipped him, Lacazette was owned by a minute 4.4%. At the time, it was unsurprising to see him behind in the popularity pecking order to Pierre-Emeric Aubameyang, given his role in Unai Emery&#8217;s team was not certain.
A few weeks on, with Arsenal in excellent form, Lacazette&#8217;s form has surely cemented his place in the centre-forward position. And being £1.1m cheaper, it&#8217;s unlikely to be long until he is the game&#8217;s most popular Arsenal pick.
Aubameyang has not outscored Lacazette since GW2 &#8211; and even then it was only by a single point. Lacazette has three double-digit scores, compared to his counterpart&#8217;s one, and he&#8217;s not blanked in three games.
A home tie against Leicester on Monday makes him a brilliant captaincy option &#8211; and it&#8217;s rare to see a player tipped by others as a go-to pick also qualifying as a differential. He&#8217;s unlikely to meet our selection criteria for too much longer.

<h3>Ake to a clean sheet &#8211; and a bonus?</h3>
Based on his minuscule 1.88% ownership alone, Bournemouth&#8217;s Joshua King (£9.3m) will make the cut for this week&#8217;s XI. For a player in form and facing a shaky Southampton side, the Norwegian is too good to ignore &#8211; providing he shakes off an ankle injury. Manager Eddie Howe appeared to indicate today that he would play in order to keep up his &#8216;momentum&#8217;.
But given Southampton have failed to score in their last three matches, we&#8217;re also looking to the Bournemouth defence for differential options this week.
Both with a goal to their name, Nathan Ake and Steve Cook stand out as starting points in the Cherries&#8217; rearguard &#8211; but what happens when we dig a little deeper?
In their GW9 4-0 win at Watford, Ake was a way off passing bonus with 36 successful passes, as was Cook on 40. Ake&#8217;s attempted two tackles and completed one, while Cook blanked in this regard. Ake had a shot on target, while Cook again came up short.
At home to Crystal Palace on October 1, the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> looked more promising. Both were close to passing bonus, with Ake just 11 short of two extra points and Cook 15 shy. While neither completed a tackle, both showed their potential in attack, the duo each registering two attempts on goal.
The 4-0 loss at Burnley on the face of it appeared a no-hoper for fantasy returns. Yet Cook was an agonising one pass off a bonus, while Ake was a mere three. Ake had two shots and was one tackle off a tier-one bonus.
On the face of it, both are very close &#8211; but we&#8217;re giving the backing to Ake (£8.1m/2.91%) and will be hoping for a clean sheet and a timely bonus.

<h3>Wolves</h3>
When guessing which player has recorded the most shots on target, few would guess Paul Pogba leads the charts on 14. Joint second on 13 apiece is Harry Kane and Mo Salah, a reminder to doubters of the big hitters this season that they remain huge worries for those who have abandoned all hope.
But like Pogba, few would have predicted Wolves frontman Raul Jimenez (£7.9m/4.8%) to be in the top five. On 11, the Mexican is tied with Sadio Mane and Sergio Aguero. Jimenez has only converted two of those chances so far but in his last three games, he has provided an assist.
We think he&#8217;s due a bigger haul. Could it come against Watford this weekend?
