Star Man: Man City vs Southampton
It’s a challenge to fit many premium players into this game with a limited budget, but Raheem Sterling seemed essential this weekend, so he’s our Star Man. Using nearly one quarter of the salary budget, he doesn’t come cheap, but he’s in red hot form and the fixture is as good as they come.
The risk of rotation seems to be minimised, with Sterling fully rested in the League Cup midweek. The deadline for entry comes after the team sheets are released, so there’s opportunity to make changes anyway if Pep Guardiola throws us any late curveballs.
Southampton have just lost 9-0 at home to Leicester, so there seems to be no ceiling for Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend! It’s the best attack in the league against the worst defence in the league: Manchester City have scored 32 goals this season, with Southampton conceding 25. Sterling has two goals and one assist from his last four league games, with his performance record for club and country in all competitions even more impressive.
Goals Galore: Brighton (vs Norwich)
Brighton have the pleasure of hosting Norwich this weekend, who incidentally are the second worst team from a defensive perspective in the Premier League, having conceded 24 goals already. The poor defensive performances show no sign of subsiding for The Canaries, with 10 goals shipped over their last four.
Brighton are becoming a completely different team from an attacking perspective this season, with Graham Potter’s setup more focused on scoring goals. Neal Maupay has ousted an ageing Glenn Murray from the central striking berth, and has two goals from his last three games.
Delving deeper into The Seagulls attack we can uncover two more attacking gems, with plenty of goal threat this weekend. Youngster Aaron Connolly has made his mark on the first team, with two goals and two assists from just three starts. Leandro Trossard looks to be back to full fitness too, grabbing an assist late on in Brighton’s previous home game against Everton.
Clean Sheet Stack: Liverpool (vs Aston Villa)
Liverpool’s defence looks to be so much more solid with Alisson back in the side and clean sheet points could provide a big boost for those daily fantasy scores. A win for a goalkeeper is also worth an extra seven points, with Liverpool likely to have the better of Villa in this match-up.
Andrew Robertson was an easy selection in defence: he already has three assists this season, creating 14 chances, of which four were counted as big chances, which is second only to team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold. Unfortunately budget couldn’t stretch to both full-backs but Dejan Lovren looks likely to get a start, with Joel Matip out through a knee injury.
Here’s how the Daily Fantasy Tipster lines up for Gameweek 11, in the £12000 Saturday EPL Wonder Strike. It’s a formation of seven players, with four attackers and three defensive, including the goalkeeper.
