Star Man: Jamie Vardy (vs Brighton)
The salary budget has been brutally hard to manage this week, but Leicester’s Jamie Vardy was a must-have given his scintillating form of late. A trip to the South Coast to play Brighton seemed like a good enough opportunity to exploit, with nearly one quarter of the salary budget used on him.
He’s had a well earned rest over the International Break, so is expected to be fit and raring to go in this one. He’s delivered in each of his last four Premier League games, amassing six goals and two assists; that’s more fantasy returns that any other player. Those six goals have come from five big chances: Vardy needs just a sniff at goal to bring home the points. Only Christian Pulisic has more shots on target over this period of games.
Opponents Brighton have tried to keep things fairly tight of late, but will be missing first-choice centre backs Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster through suspension and injury respectively. Leicester have had 36 shots on target over their last four games, with Brighton conceding 25 over the same period. It could be a tough day at the office for goalkeeper Mathew Ryan against this Vardy Party.
Goals Galore: Brighton vs Leicester
It’s the action at the Amex Stadium that comes under further scrutiny for our Gameweek 13 Daily fantasy picks, with goals expected at both ends of the pitch. Pascal Gross may have his work cut-out to break down this resolute Leicester defence who have three clean sheets in their last four games, but he’s grabbed a goal and two assists in his last four games and could be on penalties too.
Admittedly, its the Leicester midfield where are interest really lies, and with James Maddison currently flagged, it’s Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez who earn the investment here. Perez has three goals in his last four games, a statistic only bettered by teammate Vardy and Chelsea’s Pulisic. Tielemans has a respectable two goals and two assists from his last four games
The underlying statistics remain positive for this pair too: Perez has had five shots on target over this period, which is fifth for all midfielders. In Paddy Power Fantasy, three points are awarded for each chance created. Tielemans has had 10 in his last four games, which is also fifth. There are plenty of sources for points here.
Clean Sheet Stack: Everton (vs Norwich)
According to the bookies, Everton have the best chance of keeping a clean sheet this weekend. With just one in their last four, it will be a welcome return for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Norwich have scored just one goal away from Carrow Road this season, so the odds are stacked in their favour. There’s high hopes for the seven point bonus for a win in this one too.
Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina are capable of picking up the fantasy points at either end of the pitch. As well as the five points on offer for a clean sheet, Lucas Digne could be in line for another assist, worth seven points. He already has three this season and goals look likely for The Toffees against this porous Norwich defence. He’s created 14 chances in his last four games, the most of any player!
Mina provides plenty of aerial threat, sitting third for headed goal attempts over the last four, behind Sadio Mane and Gabriel Jesus. He’s still waiting for his first goal of the Premier League season, which would bring him a huge 15 points. Only Newcastle have conceded more headed shots than Norwich’s 39 this season.
Here’s how the Daily Fantasy Tipster lines up for Gameweek 13, in the £10000 Saturday EPL Wonder Strike. It’s a formation of seven players, with four attackers and three defensive, including the goalkeeper.
