Star Man: Jamie Vardy (vs Watford)
With only one premium player afforded in the salary budget, we couldn’t look beyond Leicester’s Jamie Vardy who has been so consistent for the last two months. He’s now scored in six consecutive games, with four goals and two assists from his last four games. It’s a record that no other player can match.
Rotation is always a concern when the games come in such quick succession as this, but Leicester and Vardy seem safer than other premiums. This is mainly because they don’t have European tournament football to contend with. Vardy hates being confined to the bench, and Brendan Rodgers has ensured that he hasn’t missed a single minute so far this season.
Leicester are in fine form, but the same can’t be said for their opponents Watford. They have already sacked two managers this season and it’s only Gameweek 15, meaning they travel to the King Power Stadium without a leader. The Hornets have just one win from their last four games, conceding seven goals during that spell. Could we see a repeat of that fateful 8-0 loss to Manchester City earlier in the season?
Goals Galore: Southampton (vs Norwich)
It’s difficult to look past Southampton where goals are concerned right now. The Saints are on an upwards trajectory, determined to make use of favourable fixtures to get them out of faltering season. Three points are essential here, after picking up four points from their last two games. Norwich aren’t known for being astute defensively, so there should be goals in this one.
Danny Ings has been taking the headlines, and deservedly so, with three goals in his last three games. Taking the long-view, he has scored six goals in eight and looks to be back to his very best, after being hampered with injury in recent seasons. Can he replicate the 22 goals he scored for Burnley in the Championship back in 2013-14?
Alongside him, teammates James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond can further support this Saints attack. Ward-Prowse is in great shape himself, with three goals from four. He demonstrated against Watford his ability from set-pieces, with a stunning free kick. Nathan Redmond only has one goal go show for the season so far, can he break his duck at £11?
Clean Sheet Stack: Chelsea (vs Aston Villa)
According to the bookies, Chelsea have one of the best chances of keeping a clean sheet on Wednesday, with a price of 6/5 at the time of writing. After that shock defeat against West Ham, Frank Lampard will be expecting an improvement here. Kepa is averaging two saves a game at the moment, with extra points on offer for a clean sheet and victory.
Fikayo Tomori and Reece James make up the defensive slots, at lower salary points than their teammates. James is on the cusp of breaking into the team, with two starts from Chelsea’s last three games. He hasn’t managed any attacking returns in the Premier League yet, but has picked up two goals in one assist in all competitions.
Tomori catches the eye given his consistent goal threat. He has already managed one goal this season and Chelsea’s clean sheet hopes are certainly enhanced at Stamford Bridge. In their last four home games, they’ve kept three shut-outs.
Here’s how the Daily Fantasy Tipster lines up for Gameweek 15, in the £15,000 Wednesday EPL Wonder Strike. It’s a formation of seven players, with four attackers and three defensive, including the goalkeeper.
