Danny Ings (vs Aston Villa)
One of the most prolific goal-scorers in the Premier League comes up against the leakiest defence this weekend. Danny Ings lies at fifteen goals for the season, just one behind Aguero and Aubameyang, and two behind Golden Boot race leader Jamie Vardy.
He’s had some rest in January, playing just 20 minutes in Gameweek 24 and 69 minutes in Gameweek 25. That resulted in him being back to his explosive best against Burnley in Gameweek 26, grabbing his fifteenth goal of the season. He’s had 15 shots in his last four starts, with nearly half of those hitting the target.
Aston Villa are an opponent that Ings has already had success against this season. He scored a brace in the reverse fixture at Villa Park, a fixture which Southampton won 3-1. The Lions have conceded seven goals in their last four games, and are without a clean sheet on the road this season.
Goals Galore: Southampton vs Aston Villa
It’s Aston Villa’s poor away form that makes them a target in the Goals Galore feature this week. They have conceded a league high 50 goals this season. Saints aren’t faring much better though, having conceded 48, which is the second highest total. Expect to see the net bulging in this game.
Jack Grealish will be hoping to deliver goals for Villa, he’s the talisman of this side. He also scored in the reverse fixture, and has one goal and one assist from his last four games. He’s had twelve shots in that time and created fifteen chances for his team-mates: only Maddison and De Bruyne have created more.
James Ward-Prowse and Stuart Armstrong are likely to be the supporting acts for Danny Ings. Ward-Prowse set up one of the goals in the reverse fixture and provides a constant threat from set-pieces. He’s created eight chances over the last four. Armstrong has two goals in his last four starts, from thirteen shots.
Clean Sheet Stack: Sheffield United (vs Brighton)
Another clean sheet looks likely for Sheffield United this weekend, as they look to add to the nine they’ve already kept. They are within touching distance of European football this season and only Liverpool have managed more clean sheets than them, with twelve.
Dean Henderson will have his eye on the ten points for a clean sheet in Paddy Power’s Scoring System, plus the seven point winning bonus. He has conceded just three goals in his last four games, making eleven saves during that period. Each save contributes three points to his total.
Salary constraints mean that George Baldock and Jack O’Connell are selected as our Sheffield United defenders. Baldock has two goals and four assists for the season. Jack O’Connell has just one assist, but tends to accumulate plenty of points from clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles (each worth 1.3 points).
Here’s how the Daily Fantasy Tipster lines up for Gameweek 27 in the £10,000 Saturday EPL Wonder Strike. It’s a formation of seven players, with four attackers and three defensive, including the goalkeeper.
