Welcome to the first instalment of the Five Burning Questions This Week article dedicated to Sky Fantasy Football by Paul McAnulty. Paul is a very experienced and successful manager across multiple formats but Sky is his forte with an incredible three top 50 finishes including a 4th place finish overall.
1) What should we do with Liverpool assets with the rearranged fixture in Gameweek 20?
As Liverpool play on Saturday this coming week, it offers a prime opportunity to utilise transfers to get in players who play for teams who offer a 4:1 in games over the Reds, namely Man Utd, Everton, Spurs, Crystal Palace and Brighton. If you don’t hold a Palace or Brighton player it actually works out as a 5:1 considering the Monday night captaincy opportunity this week. The shortlist of players I’m considering is:
|Player||Team||Position||Value||Selected By||Points last 4 GWs|
2) With Newcastle’s current form, and upcoming fixtures, are we overlooking potential gems?
Newcastle have been impressive over their last three games, and with good upcoming fixtures my bargain hunting has led me to looking at Willems and Shelvey in more detail. The Newcastle play-maker has returned a goal in each of the last three, however has only achieved shooting bonus once, and hasn’t returned any other bonus throughout the season to date, which puts me off.
Willems has returned reasonably well thus far this season with a mixture of clean sheets, bonus and attacking returns. The former Eintracht Frankfurt full-back missed a few games at the start of the season, diluting his points per £m achieved which can be deceiving.
Willems would be my asset of choice, however the issue with getting any Newcastle asset in is that the Toon play on the opening calendar day of each Gameweek for the foreseeable, making the switch out from a player who has already played that round impossible.
