<h2>Sky Fantasy Key Pre-Overhaul Tips</h2>
<p>In this article I’ll be looking at players who I think could provide us with a great foundation going in to Gameweek 1. With the overhaul scheduled for Gameweek 4 we only have the first three gameweeks to plan out, so it shouldn’t be too hard tricky right?</p>
<ul>
<li>My first tip is a little obvious, but target the players that you are almost certain to play. Transfers are precious in the game so the last thing you want to be doing is dipping needlessly into them before the first overhaul. Players who’ve been away on international duty and get little match time in friendlies might just be best avoided. Remember that by the first overhaul you’ll have gathered three weeks of information, these players will be back to fitness and therefore more reliable options again.</li>
<li>Avoid injury prone players. Of course any player can get injured in any given game however there’s a handful of assets that are more prone than others, as mentioned above, transfers are precious so try not to squander them early doors. <strong>Ings, Antonio, Lamptey</strong> I’m looking at you! For the sake of three weeks, do we really need to take the gamble?</li>
<li>In my mind there are two ways to approach the opening three gameweeks, the differential route, safe in the knowledge that even if your punts don’t pan out you can revert back to the safety of template come Gameweek 4 overhaul. Alternatively, all be it a little boring you might approach it safe and steady with a relatively template team to ensure that you aren’t playing catch up coming out of the overhaul.</li>

<h2><strong>Sky Fantasy Fixtures</strong></h2>
<p><strong><u>Stand Out Fixtures GW1-GW3:</u></strong></p>
<p><em><strong>Aston Villa</strong>: Watford (A), Newcastle (H), Brentford (H)</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Liverpool</strong>: Norwich (A), Burnley (H), Chelsea (H)</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Man United</strong>: Leeds (H), Southampton (A), Wolves (A)</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Brighton</strong>: Burnley (A), Watford (H), Everton (H)</em></p>
<p>My initial thoughts are that Aston Villa, Liverpool, Man United and Brighton have the most appealing run of fixtures up to the overhaul. As a result, I’m really not against stacking up on these team’s assets early doors provided captaincy days are covered first.</p>
<p>There are obviously a scattering of other appealing fixtures we need to be considering from other teams including <strong>Chelsea assets vs Crystal Palace (Gameweek 1)</strong>, <strong>Leicester assets vs Norwich (Gameweek 3) and Spurs assets vs Watford Gameweek 3)</strong>. However, these teams have some tricky encounters too so as a block of fixtures I don’t think we can go far wrong targeting the teams mentioned above.</p>

<p><strong><u>Single Match Day Captaincy Coverage Pre Overhaul:</u></strong></p>
<p><strong><em>Gameweek 1:</em></strong><em> Brentford vs Arsenal (FRI), Newcastle vs West Ham &amp; Spurs vs Man City (SUN)</em></p>
<p>There’s a lot of question marks around the Arsenal starting eleven for Gameweek 1 with so many possible attacking options but we will of course know the Arsenal and Brentford starting line-ups prior to locking our teams in for the deadline.</p>
<p>My favoured Arsenal options are <strong>K. Tierney (£8.5m)</strong>, <strong>B. Saka (£8.5m)</strong> and <strong>R. Holding (£7.7m)</strong> but it seems Brentford’s <strong>Ivan Toney (£7.9m)</strong> is likely to be the most popular captaincy option with an early ownership of 15.45%.</p>

<p>The first Super Sunday of the season sees four teams in action. Personally I feel like the best captaincy options could be forward options in <strong>C. Wilson (£8.7m)</strong> or <strong>M. Antonio (£8.8m)</strong> but given how injury prone both players are perhaps the safer option is in <strong>R. Dias (£10.6m)</strong>, <strong>K. De Bruyne (£11.5m)</strong> or a punt on <strong>H. Kane (£12.0m)</strong>.</p>

<p><strong><em>Gameweek 2: </em></strong><em>Southampton vs Man Utd, Wolves vs Spurs, Arsenal vs Chelsea (SUN), West Ham vs Leicester (MON)</em></p>
<p>As expected United’s <strong>B. Fernandes (£11.9m)</strong> is very popular early doors (40.10% owned), he will cover you nicely for Sunday captaincy as Solskjaer’s men travel to Southampton. Alternatively, <strong>H. Kane (£12.0m)</strong> and <strong>H. Son (£10.8m)</strong> against Wolves need to be considered.</p>

<p>The trickier captaincy coverage for Gameweek 2 comes on the Monday night game between West Ham and Leicester in what should be a pretty close affair.</p>
<p>Personally, the players that stand out for me are <strong>M. Antonio (£8.8m)</strong> and <strong>K. Iheanacho (£9.1m)</strong> however they both take up a valuable striker spot, so perhaps a punt on <strong>W. Ndidi (£7.7m)</strong> or <strong>H. Barnes (£8.6m)</strong> could be worth consideration.</p>

<p><strong><em>Gameweek 3:</em></strong><em> Burnley vs Leeds, Spurs vs Watford, Wolves vs Man Utd (SUN)</em></p>
<p>Once more Manchester United’s <strong>Fernandes</strong> will cover you for captaincy as United travel to Wolves for Super Sunday in Gameweek 3. Spurs’ <strong>Kane</strong>, provided he’s still at the club and <strong>Son</strong> will also be very popular captaincy picks as Spurs host Watford at home.</p>

<h2><strong>The Best Sky Fantasy Premium Players</strong></h2>
<p><strong>Expensive for a reason, they offer consistency and high ceilings</strong></p>
<p><strong><em>Ruben Dias (£10.6m &amp; 19.07% owned): </em></strong>You have to fancy Manchester City to keep a clean sheet in any given week, so regardless of the fact they come up against Spurs and Arsenal in the initial three weeks I still think Dias is a smart pick.</p>
<p>The Portuguese man was at the heart of the Citizens defence last season and when it came to ‘Pep roulette’ he was very rarely rotated. He finished on 229 points (sixth highest) making him the games highest scoring defender and he racked up 74 of those points from passing tiers alone. A little more expensive than last season but well worth it in my opinion.</p>

<p><strong><em>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£10.5m &amp; 19.99% owned): </em></strong>Alexander-Arnold came to life in the second half of the 20/21 season, ending the campaign like a steam train with five assists, one goal and creating six big chances in the final 8 matches.</p>
<p>With <strong>V. Van Dijk (£10.2m)</strong> and <strong>J. Gomez (£9.0m)</strong> back from injury plus new recruit <strong>I. Konate (£8.8m)</strong> signed to bolster the Liverpool back line, I expect a lot more than the 12 clean sheets they achieved last season. As well as being on set pieces, Trent will always be in and around the tiers in any given week, last season he ended with 28 passing bonus, six tackle bonus points and four shots bonus points. Personally I prefer <strong>Van Dijk</strong> given the safety of his passing tiers, but as he&#8217;s returning from a long term injury I think Trent is the better pick early on.</p>
<h3></h3>
<p><strong><em>Mohammad Salah (£11.9m &amp; 40.09% owned): </em></strong>The Egyptian King loves nothing more than a Gameweek 1 goal with six in the last four opening games of the season including a hat trick against Leeds last year.</p>
<p>No doubt he will be the most popular captaincy pick for Saturday (Gameweek 1) when Liverpool travel to newly promoted Norwich. He was the joint highest scoring player alongside <strong>Fernandes</strong> when it comes to shot tier bonus last season, also racking up 22 goals and six assists. Personally, I feel it&#8217;s too risky to go without Salah for those first three games.</p>
<h3></h3>
<p><strong><em>Bruno Fernandes (£11.8m &amp; 40.10% owned): </em></strong>Following a disappointing Euro 2020 campaign where I think he was unfairly scrutinised and questioned by so many, Fernandes has a lot to prove as he enters the new season at Manchester United.</p>
<p>He finished last season on 268 points, second only to <strong>Kane</strong>. He’s another player that every manager should be considering for their initial drafts given how he can haul in any game. The appeal in Bruno is that he covers off two captaincy days with trips to Southampton (Gameweek 2) and Wolves (Gameweek 3), as we know he’s on penalties and very rarely blanks.</p>
<p>Last season he racked up 18 goals and 14 assists but he only achieved 11 points from passing tiers, which is fairly disappointing by his standards.</p>

<p><strong><em>Harry Kane (£12m &amp; 39.11% owned): </em></strong>There are so many question marks around the England captain, will he join Manchester City or will he stay at Spurs? Either way he will get bags of goals again this season.</p>
<p>Relying on him for captaincy coverage in Spurs’ match against Watford is perhaps a tad risky just in case he does make the move to the Etihad. Last season he started the season like a house on fire and his form continued through the campaign adding a steady flow of assists to his already consistent scoring game; he ended the campaign with the golden boot boasting 23 goals and 14 assists.</p>
<p>The striker also ended the season as the highest scoring player in Sky Fantasy Football with 290 points, 30 of these points being accrued from Man of the Match bonus, whilst 34 points came from shots tier bonus. Wherever he ends up, he’s in for another massive season I’m sure.</p>

<h2><strong>The Best Sky Fantasy Mid-Priced Players</strong></h2>
<p>What I love more than anything in a Sky Fantasy asset is tier bonus returns, even on a bad day. Here’s a few nicely priced players with decent opening fixtures that I expect to return tier bonus regardless of their team’s result.</p>
<p><strong><em>Emi Martinez (£7.2m &amp; 21.29% owned):</em></strong> The Aston Villa shot stopper kept 15 clean sheets and hit saving bonus tiers in all but 14 matches last season. In six of the matches the Argentine didn’t hit bonus he managed a clean sheet meaning just 9 blanks.</p>
<p>231 points made him the 5th highest scoring player in the game and with three absolutely delightful fixtures to kick the 21/22 campaign (WAT, NEW, BRE), Martinez really needs to be in all of our pre-season thoughts.</p>
<h3></h3>
<p><strong><em>Lewis Dunk (£8.2m &amp; 8.29% owned): </em></strong>Brighton’s style of play sees them in possession of the ball for large chunks of a game, given the early fixtures I can see this being the case again against Burnley and Watford especially. Dunk plays centrally in a back five, racking up passing tier bonuses whilst also offering a real threat from set pieces. Last season the Brighton centre back scored five goals.</p>

<p><strong><em>Wilfred Ndidi (£7.5M &amp; 1.28% owned</em></strong><em>): </em>Missed large parts of the 20/21 campaign but Ndidi keeps himself busy in the heart of the Leicester midfield. At £7.5m he’s very reasonably priced and worth a look early doors. Last season he finished on 34 tackling tier points, the second highest of any other player.</p>

<p><strong><em>Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£8.1 – 8.80% owned): </em></strong>Coming off the back of an impressive Euro 2020 campaign the Dane will be full of confidence heading in to the new season. Last season the tenacious midfielder notched up 61 points from passing tiers alone, impressively the third highest of any player in the game.</p>
<p>What’s particularly pleasing about Hojbjerg is that he’s also in with a shout of tackling tier bonus too, mustering up a further 21 points from tackle bonus’ last season.</p>

<p><strong>All in all, the first three gameweeks shouldn’t be difficult to manage. But as I said at the beginning of the article, I would try not to dip in to the 40 transfers until after the first overhaul.
