Gameweek 14 Review

As we enter the festive period it’s a busy time for fantasy and family life. Maybe a bit less than normal with the current restrictions but still I like to have a plan in place as I know I’ll be busy with the family. If you have a bit more time then great but personally I won’t have time on Christmas Day night to be making plans for Boxing Day games. Obviously I’ll keep an eye on injury news and team news but I like to make plans now for 3-1’s and any moves up until January. With the fixtures now known until the end of January it’s now possible to plan ahead.

Gameweek 14 was the sort of week I love with plenty of games and captaincy decisions to make with plenty of points on offer. I love this time of year; it’s when you can start to really climb past a lot of teams that have used a lot of transfers and your true position becomes clear.

I was happy enough with my week with 152 and 139 points in my two teams and a rise from 702nd and 999th to 466th and 955th respectively.

Gameweek 15 Preview

Gameweek 15 is just a single gameweek with three days to navigate; Saturday 19th December through to Monday 21st. Again if you own Bruno Fernandes, Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne you have the most obvious captains covered for Saturday and Sunday. Liverpool travel to Palace and Manchester City face Southampton on Saturday whilst on Sunday Manchester United host Leeds and Spurs host Leicester. Monday is a bit trickier with Chelsea at home to West Ham and Burnley at home to Wolves. By now I’d hope most people have Kurt Zouma who will do as cover. I had planned a Harry Kane to Timo Werner move on Monday for a 3-1 but given the German's tendency to avoid scoring any points I may give it a swerve. If formation allows you might be considering a Kane to a Chelsea defender move. It’s a pity Chelsea is the 8pm kick off not the 6pm as if I knew Olivier Giroud was starting I may be tempted with the Frenchman for a three game run. I may still make the Kane to Werner move; I’m undecided as yet. Something to think about for the weekend.

I’d like to be able to throw out a few options but there aren’t too many that are standing out. We did discuss on the Podcast that Jannik Vestegaard at £6.4m is a great price and has been on fire in the last few weeks. He is a good option but I would just be wary of Southampton’s upcoming fixtures but don’t let that put you off bringing him in; there’s no reason he can’t keep up the clean sheets and passing bonus. Wesley Fofana is another good option at £6.1m and these are both good options if your fed up of the likes of Tariq Lamptey at £6m or any other defensive option that hasn’t been cutting it. We also discussed that if you do have Patricio that we probably would move him on - either spend £0.1m more on Hugo Lloris or Mendy, both priced at £7m. Cheaper options include Meslier at £6.1m, Martinez at £6.3m or I would also suggest Nick Pope at £6.7m with scores of 11, 12, 5, 15 and 12 points in his last six games. He’s showing that he’s still capable of bringing in some big scores and in fact he now has 31 clean sheets from just 83 Premier League starts.  Sky managers who have played for a few seasons will have no doubt owned Pope in the past and are more than aware what a great pick he can be.
