<p>The game has launched, you’ve had a quick look at the players and you’ve made a draft team. Maybe you’ve made about 10 draft teams and have a phone full of screen shots.</p>

<h2>Reading the Sky Rules and Understanding the Scoring</h2>
<p>It may sound dull but you wouldn't play football without knowing the offside rule. Making sure you fully read the rules and know how the point scoring works will give you the edge. <h2><b>Make a Shortlist</b></h2>
<p>Rather than keep editing your team until you have tons of drafts, make a shortlist of all the players you’d like. The main players to look for are goalscorers and then defenders and goalkeepers from teams that keep clean sheets.</p>
<p>Now throw in players who are priced well and new players be it promoted or new signings. Is there a player who underperformed last season who has dropped in price?</p>

<p>Basically, just have a shortlist now and keep an eye on transfers and pre-season games; ideally it will have 30-40 players on it. Maybe make one team just to get an idea of what you can do budget wise.</p>
<p>Make an auto select team now so you can join leagues and begin to finalise a team on the week the season starts. Monday 9th of August with the latest transfer and pre-season news to hand would be an ideal time to start.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>

<h2><b>Drafting your Sky Fantasy Team</b></h2>
<p>I always like to pick a draft side before I see other peoples teams. It’s great to listen or read to opinions of players but when you actually see a team it can easily influence you.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p><span class="Apple-converted-space">There's nothing worse than changing your mind because of someone else, especially when they know as much as you or less. I have only ever come top 40,000 in FPL twice so you </span>wouldn't find me giving out FPL advice as I'm far from qualified. So don’t let someone with no record in Sky Fantasy cloud your thinking.</p>
<p>There is so much information out there nowadays. There are <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/sky-fantasy-football-podcast/">podcasts</a> and articles and they’ll be loads of teams floating around on <a href="https://twitter.com/FFH_Sky">Twitter</a>. This is what makes everyone end up with a similar team.</p>
<p>This is the real battle now. When I won I wasn’t checking ownership of players I was just doing my own thing. I think now I’m more scared of not owning a 90%+ owned player because I’m fearful of what a haul could do to me. Maybe it’s something I need to forget about.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p>I don’t like to put my draft team out too early as again I don’t want to make people change their mind or pick a player just because I have. It’s your team, you’ve got to row your own boat.</p>
<p>My team will probably change countless times leading up to the big kick off. You could just copy my team but where’s the fun in that.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> I will <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/sky-fantasy-football-gameweek-1-team-reveals/">reveal my team</a> before the big kick off - but please create your own before seeing mine. </span></p>
<p>It is always good to then see people’s teams and realise you have a few the same and even the same captain as it’ll reassure you you're along the same thought process as everyone else.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>

<h2><b>Fixtures and Captaincy</b></h2>
<p>I look at all the fixtures as far as the first Overhaul. Which teams have the best start? That’s something to bear in mind as you wouldn’t want to pick a defender who’s side face Manchester City and Liverpool as their first two fixtures, like Norwich. Aston Villa and Brighton top the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">Fantasy Football Hub Fixture Ticker</a> for ease of first three fixtures.</p>
<p>The initial set of TV fixtures are vital. Will you try and have a captain each day or are you happy to sit out those single game days? I’m never keen on missing them although <strong>Brentford v Arsenal</strong> on the first night may test that plan. Do you want an Arsenal player when they then face Chelsea and Manchester City straight after? Do you really want a Brentford player? It is a bit of a dilemma and there is no obvious right or wrong move.</p>
<p>West Ham also face Leicester in a single game day before the overhaul. Both sides have three appealing opening fixtures so choosing the right player will be vital.</p>
