Dan’s Transfer Targets

As we head into Gameweek 20, 2016/17 Sky Sports Fantasy Football Champion Dan Cox highlights five players for you to consider for your fantasy XI this week.

It’s one of the busiest times of the year, with a packed festive schedule. There are 20 fixtures bundled into just six days but hopefully, this article will help you to navigate your way through.

The action starts this Friday and takes you through until the 27th of December. There will be plenty of captain choices and transfers to make. So make sure you have a plan in place and don’t get caught out in Christmas party season.

Mohamed Salah 12.9m

Starting off on Friday and the action kicks off with Wolves v Liverpool at the Molineux – live on Sky Sports. It’s pretty straightforward for me. Mohamed Salah is the standout choice. Not only will he provide a captain for the Friday night game, but Liverpool also play hosts to Newcastle on Boxing Day, giving two good fixtures for the Egyptian.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 12.5m

A serious captaincy option for Saturday as the Gunners face struggling Burnley at the Emirates is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (12.5m). The Arsenal frontman also has a favourable fixture on Boxing Day as Arsenal travel to the South Coast to face Chris Hughton’s Brighton.

And the best thing about Saturdays game v Burnley is that as it is the first fixture of the day you can check that the Gabon international is in the starting line up before deciding on your captaincy choice. And you can also see the action live on Sky Sports and hopefully watch him rack up the points for your team.

Robert Snodgrass 7.1m

The Hammers face Watford at home and more importantly for Sky Sports Fantasy Football managers, they then face Southampton away on December 27th. That game being the only one of the day so a Southampton or West Ham player is vital. And on current form, a West Ham player would be my pick.

I’ve previously mentioned Felipe Anderson so if you already own him your covered. But if you don’t or if he’s out of reach budget wise – then Snodgrass should be a more agreeable price. The Scotsman has had a good run in the team and has been in fantastic form. Returning three assists, two MOTM awards and two goals in his last four games.

The West Ham winger is in just 0.9% of teams so he’s very much under the radar.

Richarlison 8.6m

Moving onto Sunday and again the only game of the day is Everton v Spurs at Goodison, and you guessed it – it’s live on Sky Sports. So to ensure you have a captain you will need a player from either side. So I’ll offer up two alternatives.

A popular choice will be Richarlison (8.6m). The Brazilian is currently in 22.1% of all teams and also faces Burnley in midweek. The Everton attacker has been a steady pick in Sky with 96 points this season from eight goals, one assist and three MOTM.

Harry Kane 13m

My other suggestion will be Harry Kane (13m). Spurs face Bournemouth on Boxing Day so if you fancy the England hitman for both games then make sure to bring him into your side ahead of Sunday’s game against Everton. This is where you could move him in after one of your players has played Saturday so you are getting an extra game out of someone before moving them on.

As an example, if you have Aubameyang and want him for the Burnley game but don’t think he’ll do anything against Brighton away. Switch him out to Kane on Sunday so you’ve got the points from Aubameyang v Burnley and then Kane v Everton and Bournemouth.

Kane scored back to back hattricks over Christmas week last year so I’m hoping for the same this year. Although I’m starting to lose patience with the Spurs striker who just doesn’t seem to be as free-scoring as he used to be.
