Dan’s Transfer Targets
As we head into Gameweek 40, Former Sky Sports Fantasy Football Champion Dan Cox highlights five players for you to consider for your fantasy XI this week.
It’s the final gameweek of the season, and after a epic battle all season the Premier League will be finally be decided between Liverpool and Manchester City in the most exciting title race in years. Similarly in Sky Sports Fantasy Football we also have an exciting title battle. Just 11 points separate the top three teams. And it’s going all the way to the wire to see who will scoop the £50,000 cash prize and not forgetting Jeff Sterling’s legendary signed Hartlepool United shirt.
As always, all the final weeks fixtures are at the same time on Sunday so there is just one last captain choice to make and any remaining transfers can be used. As the final round of games are all at the same time, you will be able to check the team sheets one last time before making those all important captaincy choices and final transfers.
All eyes will be firmly fixed on Anfield and the Amex as Liverpool face Wolves and Brighton host Manchester City. And if Manchester City slip up Liverpool will be ready to pounce.
It was a worrying sight to see Mohamed Salah stretchered off in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Newcastle – but hopefully the Egyptian will have fully recovered for the seasons finale. Salah (12.9m) has a Golden Boot and a title on the line and once again would be one of my picks for this weekend. Liverpool need to win on the off chance Manchester City slip up at Brighton. And Salah who is on 22 goals for the season – will take home his second consecutive Golden Boot provided he can hold off Sergio Aguero who is just two goals behind on 20.
Aguero and Sterling
Again as so many times this season Raheem Sterling (11.5m) and Sergio Aguero (12.8m) will be in demand as they try and spoil the party for Liverpool. With Pep’s side needing a win at Brighton to clinch the title – the City duo will need to be firing on all cylinders to deliver a second successive title for Pep Guardiola.
With relegation already confirmed for Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff. And Spurs and Chelsea taking advantage of Arsenal and Manchester United winning just once each in their last five games to clinch a Champions League spot. There isn’t a great deal on the line for most teams.
Even Wolves have guaranteed a Europa League spot so you can just check the team sheets and go with what takes your fancy on the last day with nothing much at stake for most teams.
Llorente? Arnautovic? Or Rashford?
If Fernando Llorente (9.2m) starts for Spurs in place of the suspended Son and you fancy a different option then go for it. Or if your a fan of Marko Arnautovic (10.1m) – who scored his first West Ham Premier League goals since the second of January last weekend – then again go for something different. It might just pay off. If you really want a different option then maybe you could pick a Manchester United striker as they face relegated Cardiff at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford (10.4m) anyone?
Personally I’ll be playing it safe with one of Mohamed Salah or Sergio Aguero and will be hoping for at least a couple of goals for each in the quest for a top 100 finish – currently 123rd.
