Dan’s Transfer Targets
As we head into game week 34, Former Sky Sports Fantasy Football Champion Dan Cox highlights five players for you to consider for your fantasy XI this week.
We return to Premier League action after the International break with a bumper week of live action on Sky Sports. There are five games on Sky Sports this week with many teams playing twice this Gameweek, so you are well advised to study the fixture list for the week ahead.
Manchester City kick off the week’s action with a trip to Craven Cottage, with the lunchtime kick-off live on Sky Sports. The beauty of it is that as always as it’s the first game of the day you will be able to see the starting line up before confirming transfers and captains.
Sergio Aguero 12.8m
And if he starts then surely Sergio Aguero ( 12.8m ) is the captain and transfer of choice. The Argentinian is having another great season for Manchester City with 18 goals this term putting him well in with a chance of taking home the golden boot.
Aguero sits on 179 points for the season from the previously mentioned 18 goals, with also six assists and three MOTM to his name. The City hitman is currently in 30 per cent of teams so while a popular pick not the highest owned striker.
Sadio Mane 11m
Onto Sunday and forget Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah there’s a new main man in town. And that man is Sadio Mane ( 11m ). The Senegalese international has been in blistering form since the Overhaul. With five goals, one assist and three MOTM awards resulting in an impressive 58 points in his last five games. And you can’t argue with an average points per game return of 11.6 over five games.
Currently on 190 points for the season, his ownership has greatly increased over the last few weeks and he now finds himself in 24.3 per cent of teams.
He really has taken over the mantle as Liverpool’s most lethal asset, which is just as well considering Salah has scored just once in Liverpool’s last eight Premier League games. In fact, many will be losing patience with the Egyptian as he fails to deliver each week.
Liverpool host Spurs at Anfield – again live on Sky Sports and I would not bet against another Mane points haul.
Lacazette 11.4m or Aubameyang 12.5m
Monday Night Football brings us Arsenal against Newcastle at the Emirates. This is where I will look to bring in an Arsenal player as I currently don’t own any. And an Arsenal player looks essential given their solo game days on the horizon – four in total. The only problem is who to pick that you’d be confident will start each game.
Alexandre Lacazette ( 11.4m ) seems to play more than most given Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ( 12.5m ) has only started seven of the last 10 games whilst Lacazette has started nine out of the last 10 over the same period. So provided he starts on Monday then Lacazette would be my choice to transfer in.
Just three points separate the two Arsenal forwards so there’s not much in it. Aubameyang has 157, while Lacazette is on 154. The Gabon international has 17 goals this season and is owned by 12 per cent of teams. Whilst Lacazette has five goals fewer he boasts an impressive 10 assists compared to Aubameyang’s five. The thing that I like about Lacazette is that he is in just five per cent of teams so if he can grab a goal or two it should ensure you climb the leaderboard.
Marcus Rashford 10.4m or Romelu Lukaku 12.7m
Onto Tuesday and again live on Sky Sports we have a great tie at Molineux as Wolves host Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side will be seeking revenge for their FA Cup defeat so I think a United asset could well be worth transferring in. The only other game on Tuesday is Watford v Fulham so I think a United player is the best option for the armband. Watford may rest a few players ahead of their FA Cup semi final on Sunday, and Wolves may even do the same so it makes their players less appealing this week in my opinion.
Again I would favour a striker so I’ll check the team sheets before choosing between Romelu Lukaku (12.7m) or Marcus Rashford (10.4m). Latest news is that United could be without Romelu Lukaku for two more weeks amid his recovery from a foot injury. Even so, there is not much between Lukaku and Rashford points wise. The Belgian is on 125 points from 12 goals, with just one assist and one MOTM. Whilst Rashford sits on 129 points from just nine goals but does boast seven assists and three MOTM awards.
We have another three fixtures on Wednesday with Chelsea v Brighton, Manchester City v Cardiff and Spurs face Crystal Palace in their first game at their new stadium.
Raheem Sterling 11.5m
Whilst Chelsea and Spurs are a bit out of sorts – again Manchester City look the best bet to me. So Sergio Aguero again If he starts would be the most appealing option. And if not then Raheem Sterling ( 11.5m ) is a good a choice as any. Maybe both could come in on Saturday ahead of two favourable fixtures against two struggling sides.
Sterling has 198 points so far this season from 15 goals, 11 assists and three MOTM and he is currently in just 14 per cent of teams.
