This week the set of matches scored 950 points. Following Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Southampton meant Chelsea scored the most points with 95 while Watford were the lowest scores with seven points following their 4-0 home defeat.
Man of the match
The table below are the Sky man of the matches:
Patricio, Siggy and Lacazette all pick up their second award of the season.
The distribution of bonuses by team this week is:
Liverpool v Man City was the big game of the weekend, meaning bonus points were hard to come by. Spurs and Chelsea had comfortable wins and were reflected in their bonus. Man United are also joint highest bonus scores following their comeback. A big surprise was the performance of my beloved Crystal Palace who had a rare return for bonus awards. Arsenal continue to disappoint on the bonus front despite winning 5-1.
This gives a seasonal picture below.
The bonus awards by position based on the number of appearances is:
Bonus by player
The table of the top players for various bonuses are as follows:
Jorginho continues to achieve a passing bonus each week. However, Chelsea have lost their command of the over-all bonus points table. Xhaka moves into third spot, while Hojbjerg is the best from the less expected clubs
After the International break, there is only one match on the Sunday. One player who I was keen on was pre-season was Richarlison, so I’ll look closer at his start to the season and if he is worth bringing in for this fixture.
In terms of points scored he is 8th highest midfield points scorer, 9th for points per £m. However, he has missed two games through suspension so on points per game per £m he is 4th.
Richarlison has started six games scoring four goals, no assists and two man of the match awards. Though he has a red and yellow card and has picked up two tackling bonus awards. Looking at his goal contribution more closely, he has 2.1 xG and 0.3 xA so is scoring above expectation.
The most passes he has had in a game this season is 24, so unlikely to achieve any bonus in this category. Apart from his two tackling bonus games, he has only made one tackle. On shooting he has only drawn a blank once and two matches with two on target – so has been close to a bonus here.
I think Richarlison is scoring above expectation. If we adjust his points downwards by 12 (say two goals, a MotM and cancelling the red card) he’s scoring at 0.65 points per £m per game, which is still a good rate. I think the evidence is inconclusive at the moment and will need to monitor for a few more weeks. Another upside is that he played as striker in the last match which may give him more opportunities in the future.
In the upcoming fixtures my predictions for groups of four matches are as follows:
In the short-term Everton have a slightly below average set of fixtures (though tough away and easier home games).
With Everton playing Crystal Palace at home in the only Sunday fixture, I think he is well worth purchasing for that match. Depending on how your team is set up I would keep him and monitor until the home match against Watford. By then fixtures turn and we’ll know if he is a must have or not.
I had a nice start to the weekend with Ryan being my captain for the Friday night game and picking up 18 points. Being Kaneless meant a very nervous Saturday afternoon, so his blank was a relief. Unfortunately, Lukaku was my captain and despite Man U scoring three goals he made no fantasy contributions. Lukaku was transferred out for Salah on the Sunday to prepare for the good Liverpool fixtures coming up. Like a lot of other people, I had Hazard as my Sunday captain.
As mentioned last week, my team is currently 4-4-2 and it’s the defence again scoring a combined 34 points across the back four. This gave a weekly score of 97 points which I’m pleased with, though recognise it is a high scoring week with 100 plus being common. Saying that, I moved up over 1,300 places to 1,968th.
Reviewing my points against my target at the 8-week stage shows I’m 30 points behind my 0.65pts/£m target.
My team is currently:
I need to consider how to best plan transfers after the international break. Only Hazard will stay in the midfield and will be joined by Maddison and Richarlison. It is possible I keep Seri instead of one of these two (though doubt it). I will need to consider if Seri stays for the single game of Huddersfield v Fulham on November 4th or go before then and leave this game blank in terms of captain.
My other concern at the moment is Aguero who is currently subbed off around the 60th minute mark. If this continues after the international break then serious considerations will be made about moving him on.
Hope you all had a good week and ready for the week ahead.
