This was an average scoring game week with 956 points scored.  Liverpool is the only team to score three figures with 104 points following their 4-0 win at Bournemouth, who were the lowest scorers with 12 points.  Two struggling clubs Crystal Palace and West Ham were the second and third highest point scorers with 88 and 87 points respectively.

Midfielders dominated the MotM awards this week taking eight out of the possible ten available.  K de Bruyne picks up his 6th award of the season and moves to joint top with Salah.  M Ozil and A Mooy both pick up their 4th award and move to joint 3rd.

Man City had a comfortable win at home to Spurs, but they didn’t have their usual dominance with the ball and only picked up one passing award. Arsenal and Liverpool both seemed to control their matches picking up four and five tier 2 passing awards. Leicester, Crystal Palace, Stoke and Huddersfield all achieved at least three tackling bonus.

This week I’m going to have a closer inspection on M Ozil as he is now has the joint 3rd MotM awards. He doesn’t appear in my normal charts, but I have highlighted him which shows he is still scoring well compared to price.

Ozil is is currently 5th highest midfield point scorer.  He is low on the points per £m and pts/g/£m (15th and 17th respectively).  Ozil has started 13 games and made 2 appearances as a sub, in which he has scored three goals with 5 assits and bagged four MotM awards.  He has picked up eight passing bonus awards (seven being tier 2).
His underlying <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> show he has scored 10.7% of the team goals, though only had 6.6% of the team’s shot on target.  He has 17.9% of assists while creating 25.6% of chances.  Overall he is scoring slightly under his performances.
On the key metric of pts/£m/g is a low 0.61, which is lower than required to make the cut for my team. However, if we look at a break-won of his points per week we see:

Ozil had a really disappointing start to the season.  Games 1-6 he scored 15 points (0.22 pts/£m/g), games 7-12 he scored 61 points (0.92 pts/£m/g) and games 13-15 he scored 26 points (0.78 pts/£m/g).
On his current form, I think he would be a good selection and with only having a 1.9% ownership, could be a great pick to make up ground on those above. I’m thinking of bringing him in during the Boxing day matches when Arsenal are away at Palace.
My teams
I have Kane and Sanchez in both my teams and with both returning nothing of note means my teams will struggle. The first team is in need of more surgery with the attacking players only having Salah picking up more than five points. This resulted in the team dropping from 100 to 227.
The second team did better with de Bruyne as captain meaning 32 points on his own, Salah as captain for 16 and finally Siggy as captain meant another 16 from Monday night match. With a few clean sheets brought a tally of 100 points, moving my team up to 17th.
