<p>After the long wait, the football season finally arrived and before we knew it we have an international break. Though it is frustrating to have a break, it at least gives us a chance to reflect on the action in August.</p>
<h3>Team of the month</h3>
<p>Despite Man U scoring 4 twice and Liverpool also putting four past Arsenal, it is the defenders who are dominating the team of the month.  So the highest scoring team would require a defensive 5-4-1</p>

<h3><strong>Bonus Points</strong></h3>
<p>For outfield players, the break-down of bonus points between tackling, passing and shooting for August is broken-down as:</p>

<p>The numbers after the labels relate to tier, number awarded and percentage of total awarded.  Tackling is the most common bonus awarded, accounting for over 60% of bonuses awarded.  The passing awards account for 45% of bonuses (up from 33% last season) while shooting is less than 7%.  It’ll be interesting to see if this is a blip or a trend with more possession football.</p>
<h3><strong>Bonuses by club</strong></h3>
<p>Breaking the bonuses by team we produce the following:</p>

<p>As expected the big six clubs dominate the bonuses.  It is worth noting that Man City, Spurs and Arsenal achieve more pass bonuses, while Liverpool, Chelsea and Huddersfield bonuses come more from tackling.</p>
<h3><strong>Bonuses by position</strong></h3>
<p>Breaking this down by position and appearance (to allow for more midfielders than strikers) we have:</p>

<p>All figures here seem to be slightly lower than last season, where midfielders had slightly more awards than defenders.  One change from last season is that defenders are picking up more passing bonuses than midfielders.</p>
<h3><strong>Top players</strong></h3>
<p>Finally, the tables below give the top scoring players for various bonus award categories.</p>

<p>The race for the main man award (most man of the matches) is currently tied with Hegazi, Salah and Rooney all achieving two awards each.</p>
