The Best Norwich FPL Players 2021/22

The best Norwich FPL players may well be vital for padding out your Fantasy Premier League squad with budget options. Here we break down their best value FPL players ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Very few FPL managers will be looking to triple-up on Norwich FPL assets. Whilst the East Anglian outfit have plenty of attacking virtuosity, their failure to defend resolutely has been their downfall in previous Premier League seasons.

Much has been made of Teemu Pukki’s £6.0m price-tag and the fact their back-up goalkeeper Angus Gunn comes in at £4.0m.

Even so, for me, it’s in midfield that Norwich show most FPL promise. For this reason, I’ve opted to select three budget FPL midfielders from this Norwich side.

The Best Norwich FPL Players | Billy Gilmour (MID – £4.5m)

Billy Gilmour is currently the second-most selected £4.5m midfielder in FPLwith an ownership of just over 8% at the time of writing. This, of course, is thanks to his loan move from Chelsea to Norwich.

Once on the fringes of a top Premier League side, Gilmour is likely to play a key part in Norwich’s set-up for the 2021/22 season. That, combined with plenty of innate talent and an eye-catching – albeit short – showing in the Euros, makes him a very viable fifth midfielder.

There are some caveats. The Scotsman failed to notch a single goal during his two seasons at Chelsea, and remains relatively unproven in the Premier League. If he starts the season poorly, there’s plenty of room for his price to drop.

With that said, his presence on the pitch – typified by Man of the Match performances in his full Premier League debut and the England vs Scotland fixture at Euro 2020 – should mean he makes an immediate impact in a Norwich team crying out for authoritative midfielders.

This is a man who lists his idols as Luka Modric, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas. Let’s see if he can play like them.

The Best Norwich FPL Players | Todd Cantwell (MID – £5.5m)

It’s not just Todd Cantwell’s glorious hair that makes him one of the best Norwich FPL players ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 23-year-old managed to score 111 FPL points in his debut Premier League season. Not bad for a midfielder playing in a side who ultimately finished rock-bottom of the league.

Cantwell has demonstrated an impressive propensity for scoring goals against the top teams. Of the six goals he scored in the 2019/20 season, three were against Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea. A further two were against Everton and Wolves – both of whom finished in the top half of the table.

Six goals and six assists in 30 Championship games last season isn’t phenomenal by any means, but it’s clear Cantwell remains an important cog in the Norwich machine.

His experience in the Premier League, combined with his obvious ability, gives him plenty of FPL potential at £5.5m.

The Best Norwich FPL Players | Milot Rashica (MID – £5.5m)

There’s nothing like a player’s highlight reel to really get the juices flowing. Milot Rashica, the much-hyped Kosovan from Werder Bremen, has a more impressive highlight reel than most Norwich signings.

Rashica’s stats from last season are nothing to write home about: a fact that probably made it easier for Norwich to sign him in the first place. The explosive attacking midfielder scored three goals and registered just one assist in nearly 1,500 Bundesliga minutes.

However, look beyond last season and the numbers get much better. In the 2019/20 season, he scored eight goals and assisted five in just under 2,300 minutes.

The season prior to that? Nine goals and five assists in 1571 minutes.

It’s little wonder that Aston Villa were so fervent in their pursuit of the 25-year-old last season.

The fact he’s joined the Canaries is nothing short of a coup, and at £5.5m, he shows enough promise to be worthy of consideration. An unproven asset, but one that could yet prove to be a bargain.
