The Best Wolves FPL players can be near-essential for the Fantasy Premier League manager looking for the best mid-priced players in the game.

Here we take a look at the Wolves FPL players most likely to perform well in the 2021/22 season. Can the West Midlands side still flourish under new management?

The Best Wolves FPL Players 2021/22 | Wolves in Brief

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s departure from Wolves will be ominous for many of their supporters. Wolves didn’t just survive their return to the Premier League under his stewardship, they thrived. Indeed, Wolves finished seventh in each of their first two top-flight seasons under Nuno.

With this in mind, their 13th-place finish last season might look like a worrying regression.

In reality, it could be argued that Nuno did well to avoid a relegation battle without the talismanic Raul Jimenez (£7.5m) and the always-threatening Diogo Jota (£7.5m) to call upon.

Their new manager, Bruno Lage, will inherit a side that have become accustomed to life in the Premier League. He’ll also be able to make use of Jimenez’ services, turning Wolves into a slightly more exciting prospect than they might have otherwise been.

This is one of those teams that has become important for FPL managers looking for mid-priced value in recent seasons. Last campaign they were overlooked: is the 2021/22 season their comeback season?

Let’s take a look at the best Wolves FPL players.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Tips 2021/22 | The Ultimate Guide

The Best Wolves FPL Players | Conor Coady (DEF – £4.5m)

Every now and again Fantasy Premier League HQ seems to price a player so waywardly that it almost looks like a mistake. Conor Coady, a deserving entrant in our article about the best budget FPL defenders, might well be one of those players.

The Englishman played more minutes (3,303) than any other Wolves defender last season. In a backline often vulnerable to rotation, Coady was a stalwart.

So it’s surprising that the likes of Willy Boly and Romain Saiss – both of whom played markedly less minutes – are priced at £5.0m.

Wolves could only muster 10 clean sheets last season, but they’re a team who have historically been defensively impressive. In the 2019/20 season, only four teams conceded less goals.

When Wolves are at their Jimenez-inspired best, they should be challenging for a European place. In Coady, we may well have a £4.5m defender playing regularly for a top-half side. That’s a gift.

Who are the Best FPL Budget Defenders?

The Best Wolves FPL Players | Raul Jimenez (FOR – £7.5m)

Raul Jimenez’ FPL potential is no joke. I’ll be honest with you; before I started research for this article, I hadn’t considered him at all. Here’s the scoop: I’m seriously considering him now.

Firstly, I’m going to write off last season. He scored 43 points in 824 minutes but, as we all know, suffered a serious head-injury in November that wrote off the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.

So let’s look at the two seasons prior to that.

Jimenez scored 181 and 194 FPL points in the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons respectively. For context, those totals comfortably eclipse Ollie Watkins’ tally from last season, and he’s the second-most owned forward in the game.

Following these impressive totals, he was priced at £8.5m at the start of last season. This, reader, is a much more apt price for such a prolific striker, and even that was considered a bargain by many.

But you won’t find Jimenez mentioned in the best FPL mid-priced forwards this season. He’s currently selected by just 2.7% of the FPL population, this despite the fact he made a return to full training in May. Match-training will begin this month.

Wolves have a tricky run of opening fixtures, which gives FPL managers time to see whether or not he’s immediately reintroduced back to the fold.

One thing is for certain: when he is reintroduced, he should be a serious consideration for any FPL manager with a memory that stretches further than just last season.

How To Win at FPL – Form vs. Fixtures (Part 3)

The Best Wolves FPL Players | Adama Traore (MID – £6.0m)

Adama Traore is arguably one of the best attacking players to never be a great FPL option.

The Wolves winger scored two goals and managed four assists last season. Those aren’t the sort of numbers that should get you into the Spanish national side, but so much of Traore’s appeal is rooted in his explosive potential rather than his track record.

The pacy winger was subject to plenty of rotation last season, but the narrative that he was out-of-favour with Nuno is simply untrue. In fact, of all of Wolves’ listed FPL midfielders, only Ruben Neves (£5.5m) played more minutes (2670) than Traore (2640) last campaign.

Time will tell whether Lage sees in Traore what so many others have seen. When at his best, there are fewer players as fearsome as the Spaniard.

FPL-wise, 2019/20 was Traore’s best season by some way. Four goals and nine assists in just 2599 minutes gave us a glimpse of the player he can be, and many found it perplexing that Nuno, wrestling with a lack of goals in his side, didn’t use him more in the 2020/21 campaign.

It’s a question that was levelled at the goal-shy Spain during Euro 2020 too. Traore was used only once, injecting pace and penetration into a team that desperately needed it.

Whether or not he turns out to be one of this season’s best mid-priced FPL midfielders will largely depend on whether he’s given minutes by his new manager. If he’s shown that faith, he’s likely to be one of Wolves’ best attacking outlets, and could well profit from Jimenez’ return too.
