The xFPL spreadsheet has been updated for GW 12. As always, you can access the spreadsheet here. In case you missed it, you can access my beginner’s guide to xFPL here.

GW 11 – how did we do?

Before GW 11 I mentioned that I thought the following players would do well. Here is how they got on:

PlayerPointsShotsKey passes
Aguero1344
Hazard402
Alonso602
Arnautovic1242
Sigurdsson532
Balbuena120

Almost a clean sweep of returns for last week’s picks (damn you Balbuena). Hazard possibly could have got more if he had started by Sarri made it clear before the deadline (but after my article was written) that Hazard was not going to play the full match. Aguero and Arnautovic had tremendous performances. It bodes well for the latter as he embarks on a great run for the next few months. I suspect he’ll become a regular feature as my value forward pick.

Looking forward to GW 12

For those of you who do not like to use Google Drive or Google Sheets, here are the top ten players by xFPL form and value:

xFPL – Form

The most notable rises are Morata and Kane. Both have come on to a game recently and Kane in particular ought to have scored more than his solitary goal last week as his xG was a very impressive 2.6 against Wolves. He scored twice in the Champions League and with Palace to come this weekend, I think FPL managers discounting Kane as an option may do so at their peril. Doherty’s run as the top defender comes to an end as Balbuena takes over just in time for West Ham’s excellent run of fixtures. He represents good value at 4.4m for those managers looking to improve their supporting cast as we come to the final international break before the Christmas fixture onslaught.

xFPL – Value

The Bournemouth boys still appear to represent good value. Wilson even managed to bag a return in a match most would have expected a blank in. This week Bournemouth visit Newcastle and so there will be some respite for those holding Wilson and Fraser during the somewhat difficult run of fixtures. A number of differentials and enablers appear to be emerging – Morata, Camarasa, Balbuena, Keane, etc. If you have no fires to put out, starting to fill your squads with in form differentials may be a good idea as December will be a bumper month for FPL (and rotation).

Conclusion – my tips for GW 12

All players:

  • Kane versus Palace (A),
  • Salah verses Fulham (H),
  • Robertson versus Fulham (H).

Value players:

  • Arnautovic verses Huddersfield (a),
  • Fraser versus Newcastle (a),
  • Balbuena verses Huddersfield (a).

Full disclosure – I have all of these players in my FPL team and will be banking my transfer for after the international break. That is a tactic I always try to do unless there are fires to be extinguished as international breaks always result in fitness concerns.

I hope this post has been helpful. I also hope that the upcoming international break isn’t too boring (and that Scotland turn up for a change). Any questions, please get in touch by replying to this article or through Twitter. Good luck and may your arrows be green!
