<p>While it's still early days, some managers may be considering pulling the trigger on a Gameweek 9 Wildcard.</p>
<p>Bakar will talk us through the options, and explain the reasoning behind each of his picks.</p>

<h2 class="ElementDialog__ElementHeading-gmefnd-3 fcMozp">Vicente Guaita<strong> (£4.5m)</strong></h2>
<p>The goalkeeper position is a tough nut to crack on the Gameweek 9 Wildcard team - hence I have gone with the cheapest possible option who I believe offers both saves and clean-sheet potential in the times to come.</p>
<p>Crystal Palace have terrible defensive statistics this season but that is a result of the tough fixtures they have had - from now on they have a favourable run until the World Cup starts, which is ideal for those selecting a goalkeeper now.</p>
<p>We saw defensive solidity from Crystal Palace under Patrick Vieira in the 2021/22 season and that is enough for me to select Guaita based on the historical evidence we have.</p>

<h2><strong>Daniel Iversen (£3.9m)</strong></h2>
<p>There are a growing number of voices among the Leicester supporters asking for Iversen's inclusion as the first-choice goalkeeper.</p>
<p><strong>Danny Ward (£4.0m)</strong> has had a really poor start to the season but Brendan Rodgers has stuck with him so far.</p>
<p>After the Spurs game, Rodgers hinted he will reconsider his commitment to Ward over the international break, so I believe this is finally the week where Iversen is given his chance to impress.</p>
<h2><strong>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m)</strong></h2>
<p>Liverpool have had an indifferent start to the season, as a result of which Alexander-Arnold's ownership isn't as high as we are usually used to seeing.</p>
<p>I would still pick him on Wildcard though - he's first for <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/a-simple-guide-to-opta-stats-for-fpl">expected assists</a> (xA) among defenders this season and saves you the hassle of having to make additional transfers to buy him in the future.</p>

<h2><strong>Reece James (£6.0m)</strong></h2>
<p>Chelsea have a great run of fixtures coming up from this point onwards.</p>
<p>New manager Graham Potter has been known to be a bit of a tinkerman in the past, so James is the only player I can say I want from Chelsea with a reasonable degree of assurance at the moment.</p>
<p>Despite being a defender, he's second for expected goal involvement (xGi) and big chance involvements (big chances and big chances created combined) among all Chelsea players this season.</p>
<p>I see him as a good long-term pick if wildcarding right now.</p>
<h2><strong>James Justin (£4.3m)</strong></h2>
<p>This spot is a toss-up between Justin and <strong>Marc Guehi (£4.3m)</strong>. All I want from this position is a playable fixture in Gameweek 12.</p>
<p>Picking either is totally fine - I have selected Justin because Guaita will be my first-choice goalkeeper in most weeks and I'd like to spread the risk by avoiding the double Palace defence.</p>
