<h2>What&#8217;s changing with blank and double gameweeks in 2024/25?</h2>
Blank and double gameweeks occur when fixtures have to be postponed and rescheduled.
This can be for a number of reasons, including freak weather, health emergencies like Covid and even the death of the Queen back in 2022.
But it&#8217;s cup competitions clashing with Premier League games which is the main cause.
Things will be a little different this year though, with changes to the FA Cup schedule expected to lead to fewer &#8211; and smaller &#8211; blanks and doubles.
This could really shake up our chip strategies, with these weeks generally the focus of most managers&#8217; Triple Captain and Free Hit usage.

According to Ben, this is how the blank and double gameweek schedule for the rest of the season will look:

<li>Double Gameweek 33</li>
<li>Blank Gameweek 34</li>
<li>Double Gameweek 36</li>

<h3>Blank Gameweek 29</h3>
<ul>

The Carabao Cup final created the first blank gameweek of the season, with two games postponed in Gameweek 29.
Aston Villa v Liverpool moved into Double Gameweek 25 after Liverpool defeated Spurs in the second Carabao Cup semi-final.
Newcastle v Crystal Palace has been rearranged after the Magpies beat Arsenal in the first semi.

This double was an unexpected announcement on Friday, February 14.
Newcastle v Crystal Palace was widely expected to move into Gameweek 33 but instead creating an extra double gameweek in 32.

It&#8217;s likely that some games from Blank Gameweek 34 will be brought forward to create Double Gameweek 33 but we will not know the schedule for a few weeks.
<h3>Blank Gameweek 34</h3>

</ul>
Gameweek 34 takes place alongside the FA Cup semi-finals, so teams reaching this stage of the competition will need to rearrange their league matches.
We&#8217;re now up to the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup, with these games being played the weekend of March 29.
There will be three or four postponed fixtures and it&#8217;s likely these will move to Gameweek 34.
It&#8217;s possible some of these games could remain in Gameweek 34 and be played in midweek but fixture expert Ben thinks it&#8217;s likely they will move to Gameweek 33 as forecast.
The FA Cup draw was as follows &#8211; just one non-Premier League team remains in the competition:

<li>Fulham v Crystal Palace</li>
<li>Preston v Aston Villa</li>
<li>Bournemouth v Manchester City </li>
</ul>
Three games will definitely go ahead in Gameweek 34:

Gameweek 36 provides an additional slot for postponed games to be played in alongside Gameweek 33.
It&#8217;s not yet clear which rearranged games will go into which double gameweek but we will keep this guide updated as announcements are made.
Traditionally, the later double gameweek has often seen up to eight teams playing twice. But this was when the FA Cup quarter-finals caused postponements.
This year, the FA Cup will only cause up to four games to need rearranging. The scope for big scores is therefore likely to be less.
It&#8217;s possible that this double will not go ahead at all, if all postponed games move into Double Gameweek 33.
