<h2>What&#8217;s changed with blank and double gameweeks in 2024/25?</h2>
<p>Blank and double gameweeks occur when fixtures have to be postponed and rescheduled.</p>
<p>This can be for a number of reasons, including freak weather, health emergencies like Covid and even the death of the Queen back in 2022.</p>
<p>But it&#8217;s cup competitions clashing with Premier League games which is the main cause.</p>
<p>Things will be a little different this year though, with changes to the FA Cup schedule expected to lead to fewer &#8211; and smaller &#8211; blanks and doubles.</p>
<p>This could really shake up our chip strategies, with these weeks generally the focus of most managers&#8217; Triple Captain, Bench Boost and Free Hit usage.</p>

<h2>When are the FPL blank and double gameweeks in 2024/25?</h2>
<p>According to Ben, this is how the blank and double gameweek schedule for the rest of the season will most likely look:</p>

<li><strong>Double Gameweek 32</strong></li>
<li><strong>Double Gameweek 33</strong></li>
<li><strong>Blank Gameweek 34</strong></li>
<li><strong>Double Gameweek 36</strong></li>
<li><strong>Blank Gameweek 37*</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>*Gameweek 37 coincides with the FA Cup final. Two games will be affected here but it won&#8217;t definitely lead to a blank gameweek.</p>
<p>These matches could move to Gameweek 36 or stay in Gameweek 37. If they stay in Gameweek 37. they would be played in midweek instead of the weekend of the cup final.</p>

<p>This double was an unexpected announcement on Friday, February 14.</p>
<p>Newcastle v Crystal Palace was widely expected to move into Gameweek 33 but instead creating an extra double gameweek in 32.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s anticipated that games from Blank Gameweek 34 will be brought forward to create Double Gameweek 33 &#8211; but we will not know the schedule until after the FA Cup quarter-finals are concluded.</p>
<p>Even then, it could be a week or two before the Premier League confirm any fixture changes.</p>
<h3>Likely doublers</h3>

<li><strong>Crystal Palace &#8211; </strong>v Bournemouth (H) and Arsenal (A)</li>
<li><strong>Arsenal &#8211;</strong> v Ipswich (A) and Crystal Palace (H)</li>

<p>This would mean Palace have back-to-back doubles, making a triple up on Oliver Glasner&#8217;s side a strong strategy. Expect <strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta&#8217;s </strong>ownership to rise, among others.</p>

<p>Gameweek 34 clashes with the FA Cup semi-finals, so teams reaching this stage of the competition will need to rearrange their league matches.</p>
<p>The quarter-finals are taking place this weekend (March 29-30).</p>
<p>Postponed fixtures will most likely move to Double Gameweek 33 but they could also slot into Double Gameweek 36.</p>
<p>But Nottingham Forest v Brentford could be an exception. Forest beat Brighton on Saturday, however they are already scheduled to play on Monday night in Gameweek 33.</p>
<p>This match could therefore stay in Gameweek 34.</p>

<p>Crystal Palace beat Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday, so their fixture against Arsenal will not take place in Gameweek 34.</p>
<p>Aston Villa and Manchester City&#8217;s cup wins mean their game will likely move out of Gameweek 34 too.</p>

<p>Seven games will definitely go ahead in Gameweek 34, with others to be confirmed once cup results come through.</p>
<p>Nottingham Forest v Brentford could stay in Gameweek 34 too, as explained above.</p>

<p>Gameweek 36 provides an additional slot for postponed games to be played in alongside Gameweek 33.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not yet clear which rearranged games will go into which double gameweek but we will keep this guide updated as announcements are made.</p>
<p>Traditionally, the later double gameweek has often seen up to eight teams playing twice. But this was when the FA Cup quarter-finals caused postponements.</p>
<p>This year, the FA Cup will only cause up to four games to need rearranging. The scope for big scores is therefore likely to be less.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s possible that this double will not go ahead at all, if all postponed games move into Double Gameweek 33.</p>
<p>But it could be used for rearranged games from Blank Gameweek 37, which coincides with the FA Cup final.</p>
