<h2><strong>Best Forwards Gameweek 1</strong></h2>

Alexander Isak (£8.5m) – Newcastle United</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Southampton (H)</strong></p>
<p>Isak is the most owned player in the game right now, and it's not hard to see why.</p>
<p>The Sweden international scored an impressive 21 goals in 27 starts last season, and if he stays fit will surely hit 20+ league goals playing for this side.</p>
<p>He registered an xG of 20.22, which is further evidence that he can repeat this feat.</p>
<p><strong>Callum Wilson (£7.0m)</strong> is also injured at the moment, and we don't know exactly when he'll be back so Isak will be on penalties until he returns.</p>
<p>Newcastle have one of the best fixtures of the season in Gameweek 1 as they welcome Southampton to St James' Park.</p>
<p>Eddie Howe's team scored the fourth-most goals (85) last term and also recorded the fourth best xG (78.41). Therefore this could be a long night for the Saints.</p>
<p>Isak is also the joint highest scoring forward (7.0 points) for Gameweek 1 according to our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Hub AI Tool.</a></p>

<h3><strong>Kai Havertz (£8.0m) – Arsenal</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Wolves (H)</strong></p>
<p>Kai Havertz scored 13 goals and 10 assists, with an xG of 12.36 and xA of 3.88.</p>
<p>Nine of Havertz' goals and six of his assists came from Gameweek 25 onwards, when he started to play as the number 9. He had an incredible run in the second half of the season.</p>
<p>Although Havertz has played some minutes in midfield in <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-pre-season-results-guide">pre-season</a> with <strong>Gabriel Jesus (£7.0m)</strong> playing up top, I would surprised if the German doesn't lead the line this season.</p>
<p>Arsenal's opening fixture is fantastic too and the Gunners could score a fair few here. They are actually the favourites to score 2.5+ goals (55%).</p>
<p>They were one of the best attacking sides in the league last season and scored 91 goals (second) with an xG of 78.82 (third).</p>
<p>Havertz is also the third highest predicted scoring forward (5.8 points) according to our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Hub AI Tool.</a></p>

<h3><strong>Dominic Solanke (£7.5m) – Tottenham Hotspur</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Leicester City (a)</strong></p>
<p>Solanke had a fantastic season scoring 19 goals, with an xG tally of 21.75.</p>
<p>His move to Spurs makes him a much better option to start the season, given Spurs' opening fixtures.</p>
<p>At Bournemouth he was nailed for 90, on pens and the clear talisman. We do not know if this will be the case at his new club, but he will certainly get a lot more chances created for him.</p>
<p>Solanke finished the season as the third highest scoring forward (175 points) and looking at this underlying numbers, there is no reason why he can’t hit similar returns again if he gets a good amount of minutes.</p>
<p>Also I am very confident he starts against Leicester City (a) despite being signed so close to the Gameweek 1 deadline.</p>
<p>Ange Postecoglou stated:</p>

<p>Solanke couldn't ask for a better fixture to start to the season against newly promoted Leicester.</p>

<h3><strong>Erling Haaland (£15.0m) – Manchester City</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Chelsea (a)</strong></p>
<p>Haaland scored 27 goals and assisted eight last season, with an xG of 29.57 and xA of 2.18.</p>
<p>This was nine goals fewer than his debut season, but his underlying numbers were so similar that I would not be surprised at all if he easily manages 30+ league goals.</p>
<p>In 2022/23 he netted 36 goals in 33 starts, and registered the highest xG in the league (28.54). He also recorded nine assists, with an xA of 3.11. He is simply one of the best players in world football and certainly the best finisher.</p>
<p>Manchester City scored the most goals (96) last season and recorded the second highest xG (82.42). It is highly likely they will finish in the top two for these metrics again and its almost certain that Haaland will score the majority of their goals.</p>
<p>Also with no participation in the Euros he will be fitter and fresher than a lot of the league.</p>
<p>Haaland is nailed to start, on penalties and is going to be the best captain choice in most weeks. Even at £15.0m he is very hard to go without.</p>
<p>City don't have the best fixture playing Chelsea but they are still strong favourites to win and score a few goals. Even with the fixture he is very much still a captain option.</p>

<h3><strong>Chris Wood (£6.0m) – Nottingham Forest</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Bournemouth (H)</strong></p>
<p>Chris Wood has a fantastic scoring record in the Premier League. He scored 14 goals last season with an xG of 11.71 in only 20 starts.</p>
<p>Wood has hit double figures for goals in five seasons in the top division so is an established player.</p>
<p>When he starts he tends to score and with <strong>Taiwo Awoniyi (£6.0m)</strong> only playing around 25 minutes in pre-season due to an injury, Wood should be good to start Gameweek 1 at the very least and possibly beyond too.</p>
<p>Wood might even be first choice anyway and if he carries on scoring I doubt he gets dropped.</p>
<p>Nottingham Forest have a great fixture against Bournemouth at home, and the Kiwis man won't get many better games to get some attacking returns.</p>
<p>He is also the fourth highest predicted scoring forward (5.7 points) according to <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Hub AI.</a></p>
