Who are the Best FPL Forwards for Gameweek 13?
Harry Kane (£12.2m) – Tottenham Hotspur
Fixture: Burnley (a)
Harry Kane blanked yet again in Gameweek 12, but Spurs did look a lot better and registered their first league win under Antonio Conte. It looks likely they'll continue to improve under Conte.
Spurs have another great fixture this week in Burnley (a). Again, I'm putting my faith in Harry Kane for this fixture. I think with the caliber of player he is and with the fixtures coming up, returns are imminent. His xG (3.61) and xA (2.23) show he is underperforming, so the stats back this faith up.
The Clarets continue to leak goals – they have conceded 20 (18th) so far. They have also conceded 137 Shots in the Box (20th), 62 Shots on Target (19th) and an xGC of 21.5 (18th). It’s clearly another fixture in which Spurs will be strong favourites and Kane should get a few chances to score again.
The North London club have too much quality in the side to play as poorly as they have done for too long. Although this may take time under the new manager, they have the perfect run of fixtures now to click into gear with Burnley (a), Brentford (H) and Norwich (H) next up for them.
Also, historically Kane is an FPL heavyweight and is the talisman for Spurs. He is also on penalties and I really can't see him enduring this barren run for too long at all.
Our Points Prediction Tool actually has him second overall for predicted points (6.9) amongst all players.
Ivan Toney (£6.6m) – Brentford
Fixture: Everton (H)
Ivan Toney finally scored a goal last gameweek after five games without a single attacking return. It has surely been frustrating for owners as he has threatened and has been getting the chances. He was also very unfortunate not to have had a second goal which was disallowed after a very close offside call. This seems to be the story of Brentford’s season so far.
He has 22 Shots in the Box, 12 Shots on Target with an xG of 3.77 and has created five Big Chances (3rd) with an xA of 3.28 (7th). He has another decent fixture this week to keep his run going.
The Bees host Everton in Gameweek 13, who have been in a slump recently. They've lost four of their last five games whilst also conceding 10 goals (19th). The Toffees have conceded 19 goals overall (17th), with an xGC of 18 (12th).
Although Brentford have been in a similar decline themselves - also losing four of their last five - they have at least been scoring goals. To be honest, they've been quite unfortunate not to have picked up a few more points. They have scored 16 goals (7th) with an xG of 17.7 (5th) and have had no problem at all in the final third.
They have actually been underperforming and as I mentioned earlier, have been very unfortunate to not have had more goals. Bryan Mbuemo alone has hit the woodwork seven times.
Toney is Brentford’s talisman and penalty taker and we can see from his underlying numbers that he possesses both goal and assist threat. I can see him getting plenty more attacking returns this season.
Jamie Vardy (£10.8m) – Leicester City
Fixture: Watford (H)
Jamie Vardy is another one who has been a frustrating player for his owners. After scoring seven goals and one assist in his first eight games he has since blanked four games in a row.
He has 24 Shots in the Box (5th), 12 Shots on Target (5th) and an xG of 4.60 (7th). He has also created 11 Chances with an xA of 1.25. Looking at his stats this season and historically, he will no doubt come good again especially with the kind fixtures.
Leicester City have a very favourable fixture in Gameweek 13 as they welcome Watford to the King Power. The Hornets have conceded 20 goals (18th), 103 Shots in the Box (13th), 55 Shots on Target (16th) and an xGC of 20.2 (17th). They have been one of the worst defensive sides in the league.
On the other hand, the Fox’s have been fine scoring-wise with 16 goals (7th) with an xG of 15.9 (9th).
Despite his recent blanks, he is still Leicester's talisman and top goal scorer and he has a Goal Involvement of 50% in the games he has played. He is also on penalties.
Vardy has a great fixture this week to get back to scoring ways and is ranked as the third most likely anytime goalscorer (51%) for Gameweek 13 according to the bookmakers.
Our Points Prediction Tool ranks him third for predicted points (6.9) overall also.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£9.9m) – Arsenal
Fixture: Newcastle United (H)
The Gabonese forward has four goals and one assist. He has 20 Shots in the Box, 13 Shots on Target and an xG of 4.85 (4th) and has also created eight Chances with an xA of 1.27.
Arsenal play one of their most attractive fixtures of the season in Gameweek 13 as they take on Newcastle United. The Toon have conceded 27 goals (20th), 108 Shots in the Box (14th), 62 Shots on Target (19th) and an xGC of 23.6 (19th). They have been terrible at the back and it doesn’t look like new manager Eddie Howe will do much for their defensive solidity.
Aubameyang is Arsenal's top scorer this season and their first-choice centre forward. He is very likely to score the most goals in that team come the end of the season and his stats show that he is their most attacking player. He is also on penalties for the Gunners.
Although over the season there will be much better value forwards, for this week he is one of the best for sure. The bookies agree. He is the second favourite to score at anytime (55%) for Gameweek 13 and Arsenal are also third favourites to score 2.5+ goals (31%).
He is also the third highest predicted points scorer (5.7) amongst forwards according to our Points Prediction Tool.
Raul Jimenez (£7.6m) – Wolves
Fixture: Norwich (a)
Raul Jimenez has now scored three goals and three assists and as usual, has been ticking along nicely. His stats have been decent too, with 21 Shots in the Box, seven Big Chances and an xG of 3.62. He has also created 20 Chances, three Big Chances with an xA 2.59.
Jimenez has clearly upped his creativity this season and seems to be a much more all-round forward. More importantly, he has been consistent while other similar-priced forwards have been disappointing lately. The Mexican has also been slightly underperforming in the goals department.
Wolves have a very plum fixture in Gameweek 13 as they take on Norwich at Carrow Road. Although the Canaries are enjoying their best run of the season with back-to-back wins which has lifted them off the bottom of the table, they are still conceding goals and will continue to do so.
They have conceded 27 goals (20th), 126 Shots in the Box (19th), 71 Shots on Target (20th) and an xGC of 23.8 (20th).
Jimenez owners should feel confident in his potential this week as he has one of the kindest fixtures of the season and is Wolves’ talisman. He is also the number one penalty taker at the club.
Our Points Prediction Tool has him as the fourth highest predicted scoring forward (5.5 points) which also makes puts him first amongst the mid-priced strikers.
