Who are the Best FPL Forwards For Gameweek 7?

Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.7m) – Manchester United

Fixture: Everton (H)

Cristiano Ronaldo registered his first blank of the season at the weekend against Aston Villa.

It was a game in which Manchester United largely dominated with 17 Shots in the Box (1st) and an xG of 2.0 (3rd). Therefore, I wouldn’t read too much into it.

The Portuguese still has one of the best stats since joining the league with 13 Shots in the Box (1st), 5 Big Chances (2nd) and an xG of 2.85 (2nd).

Man United face Everton at home in Gameweek 7. The  Toffees have been good at the back conceding only 35 Shots in the Box (3rd), 21 Shots on Target (4th) and an xGC of 6.1 (3rd).

On the other hand, the Red Devils have one of the best attacking sides in the league. They have already scored 13 goals (2nd), with 71 Shots in the Box (3rd) and an xG of 12.4 (3rd).

I don’t see Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s men struggling to create chances against many teams with the firepower at their disposal.

Ronaldo’s underlying numbers are still amongst the best in the league. He will inevitably score well over the season, especially against the teams outside the top four.

According to our Points Prediction Tool, Ronaldo is the fourth highest forward for predicted points (6.0). The prolific marksman is also at 50% to score anytime. United are also second favourites (35%) to score 2.5+ goals.

Michail Antonio (£7.9m) – West Ham United

Fixture: Brentford (H)

Michail Antonio now has five goals (1st) and four assists (2nd) in his first five starts. The West Ham forward has been the standout player so far this season.

He has 21 Shots in the Box (2nd), 11 Shots on Target (2nd) and an xG of 4.75 (2nd) despite missing a game through suspension.

West Ham come up against the most impressive promoted team this season in Brentford (H). The Bees have been decent defensively, conceding only 39 Shots in the Box (5th), 9 Big Chances (4th) and an xGC of 6.5 (4th).

However, they did show last Gameweek that they were more than capable of being breached when up against a good attacking team in Liverpool.

The Hammers have been one of the best attacking sides so far with a number of options to choose from. They have scored 13 goals (2nd) with 60 Shots in the Box (4th), 34 Shots on Target (3rd) and an xG of 11.7 (4th).

Antonio has proven he is essentially fixture proof and can score against any team. His underlying numbers are elite and among the best in the league.

Not only has Antonio proven to be one of the best FPL forwards for Gameweek 7, but he is also capable of hitting 20 league goals a season provided he can stay fit. He can assist also, which makes him perfect for FPL.

Our Points Prediction tool has him at 54% for anytime returns in Gameweek 7.

Romelu Lukaku (£11.7m) – Chelsea

Fixture: Southampton (H)

Romelu Lukaku has three goals in his first five league appearances for Chelsea. He has blanked in the last two though against Spurs (a) and Manchester City (H). These weren’t the easiest of fixtures but his stats will be comforting to owners.

Since his first game in Gameweek 2, he has registered 14 Shots in the Box (4th), 6 Shots on Target (4th) with an xG of 2.17.

The Belgian has also created 9 Chances, 2 Big Chances and an xA of 1.65. It's also important to note that he has played Arsenal (a), Liverpool (a), Spurs (a) and Manchester City (H) in this run.

Chelsea play Southampton at home in Gameweek 7 which looks to be a very enticing fixture for the Blues. The Saints have conceded 48 Shots in the box (14th), 12 Big Chances (15th) and an xGC of 8.3 (13th).

Despite Chelsea’s tough opening schedule, they have still scored 12 goals (3rd). This has been coupled with 51 Shots in the Box (6th), 12 Big Chances (3rd) and an xG of 9.0 (7th).

They now embark on a very favourable run of fixtures starting with Ralph Hassenhutl’s men.

Lukaku will be Chelsea’s talisman this season. His stats over the last few seasons show he is an elite option with both goal and assist threat.

He is predicted to score the second most points (6.2) in Gameweek 7 and is at 52% to score anytime. Thomas Tuchel’s troops are also the favourites to score 2.5+ goals this week according to the bookmakers.

Raul Jimenez (£7.5m) – Wolves

Fixture: Newcastle United (H)

The Mexican international scored his first goal of the season last Gameweek. His stats have been decent so far with 15 Shots in the Box, 4 Big Chances and an xG of 2.01.

He has also created 16 Chances, 2 Big Chances with an xA 1.82. Jimenez seems to have really upped his creativity this season and has been unfortunate not to have registered a few assists too.

Wolves face their most favourable fixture of the season to date in Gameweek 7 as they welcome Newcastle United to the Molineux.

Steve’s Bruce’s side have conceded 14 goals (19th), 59 Shots in the Box (16th), 37 Shots on Target (19th) and xGC of 13.5 (20th). They have been one of the worst defensive sides in the league thus far.

In spite of playing Leicester City (a), Spurs (H) and Manchester United (H), Wolves have been good going forward and extremely unfortunate not to have scored more goals.

They have only scored 3 goals (19th) but have an xG of 9.4 (6th). They have also managed 54 Shots in the Box (5th) and 15 Big Chances (5th). If they keep up at this rate, they will score a lot more on average than they currently have.

These stats should fill Jimenez owners with confidence as well as the fact he has finally got off the mark this season against Southampton. Raul is also the third highest predicted points scorer (6.1) in Gameweek 7 according to our Points Prediction Tool.

Harry Kane (£12.1m) – Tottenham Hotspur

Fixture: Aston Villa (H)

Harry Kane has been a shadow of the player he was in recent seasons in this campaign so far. Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been good going forward and he has been devoid of service also.

He finished last season with 23 goals and 14 assists to mark 37 attacking returns in 35 games to collect the Golden Boot and Golden Playmaker awards.

We all know the quality and pedigree of the England forward so it’s only a matter of time before he starts scoring well again.

Spurs face Aston Villa at home in Gameweek 7 who have a fairly good defence. They have only conceded 7 goals with 54 Shots in the Box (15th), 19 Shots on Target (3rd) and xGC of 7.2 (7th).

Meanwhile, Spurs have only scored 4 goals with an xG of 5.9 (18th).

Although the evidence above doesn’t bode well for Kane, I still think he is too good an FPL asset to dismiss with a decent home fixture.

Last season, he recorded 137 Shots (1st in the league), 53 Shots on Target (1st), 84 Shots on Target (4th), and 31 Big Chances (3rd). He also created 49 Chances and 15 Big Chances which was the most amongst forwards.

Kane hasn’t become a bad player overnight. With him being on penalties and the talisman for Spurs, he has a chance of attacking returns even when he isn't playing well.

Our Points Prediction Tool agrees and ranks him as the highest predicted scorer overall (6.4) for Gameweek 7.
