<h3><strong>Alphonse Areola (£4.3m)</strong></h3>
<p>In every Premier League fixture this season, Areola has been a regular starter for West Ham, firmly establishing himself as the team's primary goalkeeper.</p>
<p>While Areola hasn't lived up to fantasy expectations, the lack of other goalkeepers presenting a strong case for selection diminishes the rationale for splurging on a premium replacement.</p>
<h3><strong>Caoimhin Kelleher (£3.9m)</strong></h3>
<p>With Alisson out with a hamstring injury, Kelleher becomes a new option on the menu.</p>
<p>Despite being cheaper, he's actually an upgrade on Areola, as Liverpool are fifth for non-penalty expected goals conceded. West Ham in comparison are 16th.</p>
<p>The upcoming run of fixtures for Liverpool looks promising too.</p>
<p>Jurgen Klopp's comments on Wednesday suggest Alisson will miss at least two games - a slightly better prognosis than the initial rumours that he would be out until the end of the year.</p>
<p>If you're worried about Kelleher taking up a Liverpool spot that could be redundant soon, you can select any other goalkeeper at this price. Although they won't be getting regular minutes, they will save funds for other positions.</p>

<h3><strong>William Saliba (£5.5m)</strong></h3>
<p>Considering their promising fixtures, affordable pricing, and ranking best for expected goals conceded (xGC), covering off the Arsenal defence seems sensible.</p>
<p>Considering the absence of standout choices in alternative defences and the somewhat underwhelming Arsenal attack, which ranks 10th for non-penalty expected goals, Saliba is an excellent option.</p>
<p>He stands out as the best Gunners option in terms of playing time and this becomes especially crucial with the upcoming busy festive schedule.</p>
<h3><strong>Gabriel (£4.9m)</strong></h3>
<p>While Gabriel's time on the pitch may not be as guaranteed as Saliba's, I am inclined to think he should be a regular starter in most of Arsenal's upcoming matches, making him a valuable addition given his price and the team's upcoming fixtures.</p>
<p>Doubling up on the Arsenal defence is also viable given their stats.</p>

<p>There's a lot to like about Porro.</p>
<p>He's nailed, is very attacking and has great underlying data with a good run of fixtures coming up.</p>
<p>Among defenders, he's only behind <strong>Kieran Trippier (£7.0m)</strong> and <strong>Matty Cash (£5.1m)</strong> for expected goal involvements (xGi) this season.</p>
<p>He's on all set-pieces in the absence of <strong>James Maddison (£7.9m)</strong> which helps him accumulate bonus at a quick rate.</p>
<p>There are not too many defenders that I like in the weeks to come but he stands out as one of the best.</p>
<h3><strong>Tino Livramento (£4.3m)</strong></h3>
<p>No team has conceded fewer big chances than Newcastle this season.</p>
<p>Considering the uncertainty surrounding <strong>Sven Botman's (£4.5m) </strong>fitness, I think Livramento is my preferred route in the Magpies' defence.</p>
<p>Given his recent form, he should be a regular starter in the absence of <strong>Dan Burn(£4.5m)</strong> over the next two months.</p>

<p>Taylor is the one of the cheapest starting defenders available in the game.</p>
<p>The upcoming fixtures for Burnley present a decent opportunity for him to step in when necessary.</p>
<p>Furthermore, he has a decent fixture against Fulham in Gameweek 18 when Manchester City and Brentford blank, when the bench might be needed.</p>
