Clean Sheet and Anytime Goalscorer Odds FPL Gameweek 14!

So we are about to embark on the favourite time of year for every FPL manager. We have three GW’s coming up (GW14, GW15 and GW16) in the next eight days. A few things I would advise at this point are:

1. Have a full 15 man squad if you can. There is bound to be rotation, injuries and surprise line-ups.
2. Have a rough plan of your transfers and captains from now until mid-January. Something will inevitably disrupt that plan but it’s good to have some sort of idea so you can adjust swiftly and accordingly.
3. If you have any ‘weak links’ like doubtful, injured or rotation prone players deal with them first. Similarly, avoid bringing in any of these types of players. Now is not the time for risks.
4. Most importantly enjoy the ride!

GAMEWEEK 13 RESULTS

So for the fourth week in a row, we have had just four clean sheets. As usual none for the top five kept one as the likes of Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City and Man United again conceded. Norwich who were only cited at 12% kept out Everton at Goodison. Aston Villa, Leicester, and Burnley were the other three which given their fixtures wasn’t too much a surprise.

Again it was a good week for the anytime scorers as 10 of the top 20 scored. Vardy owners will be counting their lucky stars for VAR, as he hauled again due to his re-taken penalty. Jimenez and Mane who were transferred in GW13 by a combined 470,810 managers were rewarded instantly. Salah was benched and came on for a one point cameo and owners are now left in a bit of a dilemma of what to do with him especially as Mane and the Egyptian are now the same price (£12.2m).

Gameweek 14 Clean sheets

Familiar faces at the top this week with Liverpool and Manchester City tied at 51%. It is looking like a good gameweek for clean sheets on paper but we all know that means nothing this season. Liverpool have been playing like ‘champions’ this season – as in they have not been great at all but are still somehow managing to grind out results, kind of reminiscent on United under Fergie! Myself and I think a lot of managers will be in a bit of a conundrum now with Liverpool defenders. The run they have coming up is as good as ever (BHA, EVE, bou, WAT, blank, lei, WOL, SHU). Although they have a blank in GW18, there’s plenty of time to plan for that. Looking at their defensive stats they are actually among the best in the league. They have conceded 19 ‘Big Chances’ which is the third best in the league, conceded 83 SitB (fourth best) and they have conceded the least SoT (36). So if you’re a stats man the double up should pay off and variance should swing in your favour. Another thing about the defensive double up (Robbo and TAA) is that there is always a chance of attacking returns, so that needs to be considered also. Robertson, for example, is outscoring any similarly priced midfielder. Another option is the Mane and Salah double up but it’s extremely pricey!
