<h2>Crystal Palace stats and best players</h2>
<p>Crystal Palace squeezed into the top half of the table at the end of last season, and there was plenty for Eagles fans to be positive about in the closing stages of the campaign.</p>
<p>Highlights under new manager Oliver Glasner included a 4-0 win over Manchester United, a victory at Anfield, and a 5-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day.</p>
<p>They scored 57 goals, ranking them 9th in the Premier League, vastly over-performing their Expected Goals (xG) thanks to clinical finishing from the likes of <strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta </strong>and <strong>Eberechi Eze</strong>.</p>
<p>This was eclipsed by their strong defensive campaign however, which placed them fifth in the league for xGC.</p>
<p>The Eagles' solid season was somewhat reflected in their FPL performance too, with Palace sitting 8th in the league for FPL points.</p>

<h3>2023/24 season best players</h3>
<p><strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta </strong>was Crystal Palace's runaway top goalscorer with 16 goals in the Premier League last season, and the Frenchman ended the season in fine form - including his final day hat trick against Aston Villa.</p>
<p>Palace were 5-0 victors that day, and the other two goals were scored by <strong>Eberechi Eze</strong>, who was Palace's second highest scorer on 11.</p>
<p>No other Palace player reached double figures, excluding <strong>Michael Olise </strong>who is now a Bayern Munich player.</p>

<p>Assists were spread around the squad to a large extent, with Mateta and <strong>Jordan Ayew </strong>sharing the top spot.</p>
<p>Defender <strong>Daniel Munoz </strong>sits notably high on the list, considering he started just 16 games for Palace last season.</p>

<p>Along with those assists, clean sheet potential could make Munoz and others useful fantasy options.</p>
<p>The Palace backline looked pretty assured last season - only Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton kept more clean sheets.</p>
<p>Whoever gets the nod in goal between <strong>Sam Johnstone </strong>and <strong>Dean Henderson </strong>will be hopeful of being in the race for the Golden Glove at the end of the season.</p>

<h2>What is Crystal Palace's style of play under Oliver Glasner?</h2>
<p>Glasner is a more attack-minded manager than Palace's former boss Roy Hodgson, and the formation he plays often shifts within matches.</p>
<p>On paper the Eagles set up in a 3-4-3, but this becomes more of a. 3-2-5 in possession, with <strong>Daniel Munoz </strong>in particular spending vast amounts of time in the opposition third, although <strong>Tyrick Mitchell </strong>certainly saw an uptick in attacking opportunities too.</p>
<p>It was a successful strategy for Glasner, leading to a 50% win percentage thanks to winning seven of his 14 Premier League games, as well as drawing four.</p>
<p>Palace's opponents were often overwhelmed by their swift attacking buildup, with highlights including putting five past the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham, as well as a 4-0 win against Manchester United.</p>
<p>New signing <strong>Daichi Kamada </strong>will hope to replicate some of the form shown by the now departed Michael Olise, with Mateta and Eze each providing a talismanic presence in attack.</p>

<p>Another transfer-in comes in the form of <strong>Chadi Riad </strong>at centre-back, who should compliment the impressive <strong>Marc Guehi </strong>and <strong>Joachim Andersen</strong>, with <strong>Chris Richards </strong>and <strong>Nathaniel Clyne </strong>offering solid back-up options.</p>
<p>The midfield quality of <strong>Will Hughes </strong>and England man <strong>Adam Wharton </strong>gives Glasner an element of control despite the number of players pushing forward.</p>
<p>From a fantasy perspective, <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-pre-season-results-guide">pre-season</a> will give us a better idea of the Palace assets to target - including whether <strong>Sam Johnstone </strong>keeps his place between the sticks ahead of <strong>Dean Henderson</strong>.</p>
