The Watchlist continues to deliver value with Digne, Townsend, Dubravka, Balbuena and Jota returning last week. Most players have risen in ownership and Digne and Kolasinac also rose in value.
One of the top pieces of FPL advice I follow is to always look ahead to a minimum of three weeks in advance when making transfers and try to focus on fixing the weakest link. This helps build and maintain a well-rounded team with good depth and good point-scoring potential all over the pitch rather than relying on just a few key players each week. In my opinion, far too much thinking is spent on who to captain each week, rather than how to maximise your budget across your squad, spending money in the right places, maintaining structural flexibility and ensuring a continual influx of points from across your team. Successful FPL managers have well-balanced teams with a focus on value all over the pitch; the boring moves are the winning moves and the difference between finishing in the top 200k and the top 20k.
The Watchlist is focussed on lesser obvious picks with potential good value that can keep our scores ticking along whether the big boys’ fire or not. They are not sexy nor exciting and I’m not saying to bring them in right away, but they are players that I feel can offer great value to a squad over the medium term and give those extra few points in the background that we all crave each week. Some of them will also be ideal bench players so that when needed will come in and hopefully bring some points with them.
Diangana – 4.5m (West Ham) – 0.2% owned
Not getting the minutes to justify the fifth midfielder spot
Dubravka – 5.0m (Newcastle) – 0.6% owned
One good fixture remains before the fixtures turn. A nice nine pointer for owners last weekend
Kenedy – 4.9m (Newcastle) – 4.5% owned
The fixtures turn after the weekend so hopefully one last hurrah before he leaves the watchlist
Schindler – 4.4m (Huddersfield) – 3.5% owned
A cheap playing 5th defender who offers good BPS potential when keeping a clean sheet and has attacking threat. Only one difficult fixture in the next five.
Digne – 5.0m (Everton) – 4.8% owned
Looks very attacking, on some set pieces and Everton have good fixtures after the next game. Another assist last weekend and I’ll be bringing him in next week
Balbuena – 4.4m (West Ham) – 1.4% owned
Great fixtures and some attacking threat, currently in my team.
Keane – 5.1m (Everton) – 4.5% owned
A top defender, good attacking threat and good fixtures after the next game. Good on BPS when returning.
Townsend – 5.7m (Crystal Palace) – 2.0% owned
Another return last week and remains a threat. Seven good fixtures in the next ten.
Kolasinac – 5.1m (Arsenal) – 4.2% owned
Has been playing well and starting consistently, is very attacking and has only one difficult fixtures in the next seven.
Jota – 5.9m (Wolves) – 1.0% owned
Mixed fixtures but seems to have found his form of last season. A very exciting player with great acceleration and a good finisher.
Armstrong – 5.1m (Southampton) – 0.9% owned
Has looked a very exciting player since breaking into the team and can kick on now with the new manager and seven good fixtures in the next nine
Mee – 4.7m (Burnley) – 2.0% owned
A risk but after this weekend’s game against Arsenal Burnley have seven good fixtures in the next eight and have improved recently
Lingard – 6.7m (Man Utd) – 2.1% owned
With Mourinho gone the horses may be unshackled rendering Lingard a good option with eight good fixtures in the next nine
