Fantasy Premier League Double GW25 tips from FPL Matthew, arguably the best FPL manager in the world with three top 500 finishes and a further six top 10k finishes. Every week Matthew writes his FPL Team Reveal article detailing his team, captain and plans for the coming Gameweek exclusively for Fantasy Football Hub members.
Gameweek 24 Review
This is getting silly! A seventh green arrow in a row! I'm particularly happy about this one as, apart from the three Manchester City that most people have by now, I didn't 'go big' on the double Gameweek, bringing in just Nick Pope (£5.6m) from the other three teams involved. Like many, the second part of the doubles was a letdown and in the end, I missed out on a ton, finishing the week on 96 points which pushed me from 227k to 180k overall rank.
Here are my Gameweek 24 points in full:

Gameweek 25 Preview
Normally, I now post the upcoming fixtures from the Hub's Fixture Ticker however, this week again, I am posting a screenshot of fellow Hub Contributor Ben Crellin's spreadsheet showing the 'blanks' in Gameweek 29 and the confirmed and potential double gameweeks between now and then:

Ben Crellin's Spreadsheet
At the time of writing, the rearranged fixtures (beyond Gameweek 25) have still not been communicated by the Premier League, but the above gives us a decent idea of what is in store.
As I said last week, in an effort to try and save my wildcard until after this run of fixtures, I am going to focus mainly on those teams that have both at least one likely double gameweek between now and Gameweek 28 and a fixture in Gameweek 29. These teams look to be:
- Fulham
- Leeds United
- Aston Villa
- Tottenham
This is how I'm currently set up, going into Gameweek 25:

Matthew's current gameweek 25 line-up
As you can see, I have three Leeds United players for their double this week, but no Southampton players (the other team with two fixtures). I also have a couple of injury doubts in my team, namely Ilkay Gündogan (£6.1m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.7m) - hopefully we'll hear more about those two before the deadline.
Other than that, I'm in reasonable shape, although we're now going into that difficult period where I'm competing with a lot of managers who will be wildcarding this week, so I am going into this week with the assumption that my run of green arrows may well come to an end.
Most Wanted List
This is where I identify the players who I am currently most considering bringing into my team as well as highlighting who, if anyone, may be able to make way for them. This helps me to formulate a rough mental shortlist of potential moves. I update this list each week.
Again, the list is currently heavily influenced by the upcoming double gameweeks, but they also need to be decent picks in their own right.
Goalkeepers
None
Out-list: None
Removed: Nick Pope (£5.6m) - now in my team, Alphonse Areola (£4.5m) - as their gameweek 24 double has been and gone
Defenders
None
Out-list: Ben Johnson (£3.9m) - seems to have lost his place as quickly as he gained it - a wildcard mistake
Removed: Stuart Dallas (£4.9m) - now in my team, Ben Mee (£5.1m) and Matt Lowton (£4.5m) as their gameweek 24 double has been and gone
Midfielders
Jack Grealish (£7.8m) - always a solid option, at a good price, and with extra fixtures to come
Heung-Min Son (£9.6m) - back on my radar
Out-list: Tomas Soucek (£5.4m) - some tricky fixtures and no double gameweeks
Removed: Ademola Lookman (£5.0m) - as their gameweek 24 double has been and gone
Forwards
New: Harry Kane (£11.0m) - back fit and firing, he comes back onto the List almost by default
Out-list: None
Removed: None
Chip Strategy Reminder
To recap, I have the following chips remaining: second Wildcard, Bench Boost and Triple Captain. My Free Hit Chip I used in Gameweek 18.
My current plan is to navigate my way through now to Gameweek 29 (inclusive) via free transfers and the odd hit. I think I can do this by focusing my transfers mainly on the four teams listed above, together with the squad that I already have. I think that this can give me reasonable coverage of the upcoming doubles plus a fairly decent team in Gameweek 29. After that, I will use my Wildcard soon after (Gameweek 30 or 31).
My Triple Captain, I will use whenever feels right - perhaps Gameweek 26 if Kane or Son have an attractive double - this is an "easy" chip to use anyway.
My Bench Boost I will use post Gameweek 30, following my second wildcard - but that's some way off yet.
With a strategy such as this you have to accept that its going to be a tough set of Gameweeks pre-wildcard as I will be competing with a lot of teams who are using their Wildcards to set up optimally or the doubles and/or their Free Hit Chips for Gameweek 29. However, I should then be in a strong position to finish the season.
That said, you need to remain flexible in this game, so all this may change!

Great read as usual, I’ve noticed that you have benched double-gamer McCarthy in favor of Pope. Southampton are probably bad defensively but Burnley without Ben Mee also seem susceptible. Tuff choice!
I have the same choice to make, would be good to get an explanation as to why he made it as I tend to favour the double GW player.
See above
Yeah that’s the biggest dilemma. I would normally go with the DGW player but I’m a bit worried McCarthy could end up getting dropped
Ummm. Out of interest, what was your plan for this week if you went ahead with the Mee & Areola move last week? 😂
Are you asking for a friend? 🤣 Maybe consider bringing in Dallas?
Yea my friend made the big mistake of following your lead to get through these DGWs 😉. Well I’m gonna bring in Raphina for sure but may go Dallas too. It’s a -4 but thats fine for someone getting a double. Although I tell you this. I am also very tempted by Struijik who’s a mil cheaper.
I think Struijik is a good shout at less than 4m (not for long). Under the radar until his goal last week. I’m sure he will be popular when wildcards are played over the coming weeks.
