When Pep Guardiola was asked about the likelihood of Haaland playing against Crystal Palace:
<blockquote>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think so. But maybe they surprise me and tell me something new but I don&#8217;t think so.
It&#8217;s not fracture, it&#8217;s just stress and sometimes players recover quicker, sometimes longer so day by day. The doctor says we have to take it day by day, week by week, how he feels.
The moment he doesn&#8217;t have symptoms and doesn&#8217;t feel pain, he will be ready to play again.&#8221;</blockquote>
When Guardiola was asked about a potential return date for Haaland:
<blockquote>&#8220;[He] arrived today and we will see.
The doctors will see him and we how he feels. He has been in treatment away.
Hopefully he can travel to Saudi (for the Club World Cup) tomorrow after the game, and I think he is going to travel with us, and after we will see if he is able to play the first game or the second game, or when we come back.&#8221;</blockquote>

Other information:
There had been no indication Haaland was set to miss out before the Gameweek 16 deadline &#8211; but rumours later began to emerge that the league&#8217;s top scorer would miss Manchester City&#8217;s trip to Luton.
The rumours proved correct, with Pep Guardiola confirming he had a foot injury, although the City manager said it was not a broken bone.
City play Crystal Palace in Gameweek 17 before travelling to the Club World Cup.
They have no fixture in <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-blank-double-gameweek-guide">FPL Gameweek 18</a> as a result, which may prompt fantasy managers to sell Haaland instead of holding him through the blank.
Guardiola was unable to confirm whether Haaland would miss the Palace game, although it seems unlikely. He said <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42HkvWkrqzM&amp;t=3s">post-match</a>:
<blockquote>&#8220;It&#8217;s just a stressed bone, so it&#8217;s not right today. I don&#8217;t think so in Crystal Palace, hopefully [he] can be ready in Saudi Arabia.
&#8220;Week by week will dictate how he feels.&#8221;</blockquote>

Guardiola later gave him a chance of being ready for Palace, however he didn&#8217;t sound overly confident. He added:
<blockquote>&#8220;He wants to be ready, to be fit, but during the season there are injuries, suspensions, many things, and now happened to him after Aston Villa &#8211; the day after he almost could not walk properly and I spoke with him and he said &#8216;I feel much, much better, now I can walk, I don&#8217;t have pain&#8217;.
&#8220;That&#8217;s why the doctor said we have to see week by week or day by day how it&#8217;s getting better.&#8221;</blockquote>
City played their final Champions League group game on Wednesday without Haaland.

<h2>Should Haaland be sold in FPL?</h2>
If Haaland is set to miss the Palace game in Gameweek 17, there is a strong argument to be made for selling him, given the fact that City have no fixture in Gameweek 18.
With Everton and Sheffield United to follow however, you could find yourself bringing the Norwegian straight back in if the injury turns out to be a minor one.

<h2>Potential Haaland replacements in FPL</h2>
There are plenty of forwards to consider to replace Haaland, at a range of price points.
According to Hub AI, the majority of forward options who are predicted to score highly will also free up plenty of cash for FPL managers.
When looking at its predictions for the next three games, Ollie Watkins (£8.5m) and Gabriel Jesus (£7.9m) are predicted to score the most points among forwards, should Haaland be ruled unfit.

Alexander Isak (£7.6m) and Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) are potential rotation risks, although they present very high upside given the attacking quality Liverpool and Newcastle possess.
Dominic Solanke (£6.6m) has a great fixture against Luton this week and will save you some cash, while the likes of Matheus Cunha (£5.7m) and Calvert-Lewin  (£5.8m) could be considered at a lower price point.

In terms of budget options, Raul Jimenez (£5.3m) looks good for some returns of the back of two 5-0 wins for Fulham, while Antoine Semenyo (£4.6m) appears a relatively safe starter in an attacking Bournemouth side,
It&#8217;s also worth keeping Julian Alvarez (£6.9m) in mind, as the Argentinian&#8217;s minutes spent playing as the main striker for City should shoot up if Haaland is ruled out.
