The Hub’s Gameweek 10 XI

Goalkeeper

Ederson is in goal against Burnley. Burnley have attempted the third least amount of shots inside the box, accruing the third-lowest xG of 3.48 over the last four Gameweeks. Man City’s defence have also conceded the least amount of shots and shots inside the box over this period, so on paper, this looks like a good chance for a clean sheet.

Defence

I’ve gone for a double up with Dias getting the nod due to his safety of starts and attacking threat from set-pieces. Cancelo is a player who carries a lot of attacking threat too but has more chance of rotation with all three left-backs fit.

Fulham have been middle of the road when it comes to their attacking stats but they are a team that allows plenty of avenues for point, so Justin gets a place in the backline. With Pereira back soon, there’s not long left before his wing-back role is off the cards at his still cheap price.

Robertson’s performance last week showed what potential he’s got, even with a whole new backline alongside him. He’s the key attacking outlet when it comes to their defence and with clean sheets still not being clear cut, his assist potential gives him a high ceiling and high floor. The Scott created two big chances against Leicester and he’s going to be extremely relied upon for the next few weeks, bonding well for FPL managers. Brighton away isn’t an easy fixture and they’ve managed to nick a few goals against the big six this season but I think he’s worth a place in the team this week.

Robertson looks a great option for Gameweek 10

West Ham just about held onto their clean sheet last week against Fulham thanks to a rather intricate penalty at the death by Fulham. Cresswell continues to provide goal and assist threat with four key passes last week as well as having corners and free-kicks to his name. Sheffield Utd are a one or none team when it comes to goals at the minute and have averaged a goal every two games so far which can only be bettered by Fulham.

Midfield

The budget-friendly Jota line up against Brighton. At £6.7m the Portuguese midfielder is unbelievable value as long as he continues to start and at the moment, his form is preventing Klopp from rotating him. Brighton’s defence continues to look good on paper but they’ve let in eight goals in three games against the big six. Salah is also another option after recovering from Covid 19 and Mane who’s more match sharp than his teammate. He was unlucky not to come away with a return last week, having five shots inside the box and an xG of 0.97, so I can see some double ups in attack quite soon.

De Bruyne was afforded a rest midweek after Guardiola noted he was suffering from fatigue. With a full week between games, he looks a prime option against Burnley who will be without Pope. This is a fixture over form pick with Man City still failing to flatter as they have for many seasons.

Fernandes returned his 4th double-digit haul of the season and he was unlucky not to get more. Fernandes created six key passes, the most in Europe this season and slotted home a penalty on the second attempt. He is also yet to blank away from home this season but Southampton have shown defensive resilience as of late, so it’s not going to be cut and dry.

Grealish has got a habit of blanking when he gets selected in the Hub XI but he was extremely unlucky to come away without a return against Brighton and the early unforeseen injury to Barkley didn’t help. I felt West Ham were fortunate to keep a clean sheet last week and with an xGC of 1.42, it looks to be the case.

Forwards

Calvert Lewin is once again an automatic pick in the side. The absence of Digne isn’t ideal as I assume there’s going to be fewer number of chances for the striker but it’s not a deal-breaker.

Calvert-Lewin, even without Digne, again looks a strong option against a shaky Leeds’ defence

Vardy was also quite an easy pick this week despite him being nonexistent against Liverpool. Vardy is a flat track bully and Fulham could play into his hands, as they did to Everton’s attackers last week.

Bamford secures his place in the side against Everton who haven’t kept a clean sheet since Gameweek 1. He tops the tables for shots, shots inside the box and big chances for strikers over the past four weeks, so points look imminent.

Bench

This weeks bench sees MaceySoucek, Cresswell , and Kilman.

Gameweek 10 Captaincy

Fernandes is our captain with his unbelievable away record.

Notable omissions

The London derby doesn’t feature this week as I’m finding it hard to call. Spurs were clinical with their chances last week and the opposite was true for Chelsea. Werner really impressed but with both defences performing solidly, I’ve steered clear.

I don’t see many goals in the Crystal Palace vs Newcastle game with key players such as Zaha out for both teams. Van Aanholt was tempting but I couldn’t fit him in. Much like this game, I think Arsenal Wolves won’t be a goal-fest but neither defence provides an option with enough attacking threat to get into the team.
