FPL Gameweek 5 Recap
You’re a wizard Harry – all the signs have been there, but I’ve seen enough now, Kane (£10.7m) is well and truly back, but with the added bonus of assist potential on top of his phenomenal strike rate. He links up with Son (£9.3m) so well that having both seems a sensible option at the moment. One concern is how Bale (£9.5m) will disrupt the dynamic between them. It was quite telling that as soon as he came on he claimed the freekick (without any challenge) from Son.
Consistency – we’ve had enough weeks now to make some judgements and we’ve seen enough from Everton, Liverpool and Villa to get a good idea of what we’re going to get from them and who we should own.
Patience – Saturday highlighted how crucial this can be this season when heavily transferred out players hauled. In the heat of frustration it can be very tempting to ditch someone, however you should always take a moment to consider why you bought them in the first place, who they’re about to play and if there are any bigger fires to tackle.
How have we done to date?
It’s nice to get back on track, I trust my process for selecting a captain, but it’s always reassuring when the results are good too.

Who do our Twitter followers think is the best FPL Gameweek 6 captain?
Old Hunting Ground – do any of the likely lads have a good history vs their opposition?
Sterling (£11.5m) – scored a hat trick away in the opening game of last season. Four of his six goals and all his assists have come away from home. For anyone that owns him, I would be very excited about this fixture.
Kane (£10.7m) – was injured for the away game last season, but at home he scored another brace and got an assist. In the 17/18 season he scored a hat trick away and he certainly enjoys playing against Burnley.
Fernandes (£10.5m) – only joined in January missing the home game, but he’s got a 100% record so far.
Aguero (£10.4m) – the majority of his returns have come away from home (five goals and an assist). With games coming thick and fast it shouldn’t take him long to get up to speed.
Grealish (£7.2m) – these were from their duels in the Championship, Villa have evolved a lot since then.
Salah (£12.3m) – got his customary goal against them at home last season and they don’t look anywhere near as solid defensively this time around.
Mane (£11.9m) – also scored at home last season.
Son (£9.3m) – scored one goal away in 16/17 and picked up a goal and assist at home last season.
Members Stats breakdown - FPL Gameweek 6 Captain
These stats are pulled from the Fantasy Football Hub OPTA Stats tool that is available to all members to help you analyse the players and teams.
In all honesty, you can't read too much into these stats from a four Gameweek sample, especially as the opposition strength plays a major factor. It will take at least four weeks (from all sides) before we get anything meaningful and even then it's a tiny sample. What we can do is utilise these stats in combination with the eye test to help us make our decision.
I’ve shown these as per appearance, as some teams / players have played a game less.
