<p>Alexander Isak picked up an injury during the international break &#8211; is it time to replace him ahead of FPL Gameweek 9 and who for?</p>
<p>The Swedish striker was a popular Gameweek 8 Wildcard choice and was brought into more than 330,000 teams ahead of the last round of Premier League matches.</p>
<p>News of his injury has already seen him dumped by around 196,000 FPL managers.</p>
<p>But for those who are still looking to move him on, we&#8217;ve put together a shortlist of options to replace him, using the Hub&#8217;s Opta <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta">stats</a> and <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">predicted points</a> tools as our guide.</p>

<h2>Alexander Isak: Friday press conference update</h2>
<p>Newcastle manager Eddie Howe gave an update on his player on Friday morning.</p>
<p>It was not conclusive, with Howe hinting that the injury was not serious. It does however seem unlikely the Swede will be in the starting lineup for Gameweek 9.</p>
<p>Howe <a href="https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1575773696505135104">said</a>: &#8220;He picked up an injury training with Sweden but the scan doesn&#8217;t look too bad. We&#8217;re not overly concerned it&#8217;s a long injury.</p>
<p>&#8220;With any muscle injury there&#8217;s a period where you have to be careful. He&#8217;s out running on the grass and is looking good.&#8221;</p>
<p>Although FPL managers could hold Isak and hope he makes an early return, the uncertainty surrounding his injury status may be enough in itself for them to transfer him out.</p>

<p>With Isak priced at £7.1m, our shortlist includes four players who are priced at £7.3m and below.</p>

<h3>Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.9m)</h3>
<p>Some FPL managers may have both Isak and Mitrovic as it stands &#8211; but the data suggests they are in the minority.</p>
<p>Just 4.52% of the top 250k have the Isak/Mitrovic double up, so a straight swap could be the obvious move for most.</p>
<p>The Serbian ranks in the top two forwards in the game in all Opta goal threat statistics &#8211; or joint-second with <strong>Harry Kane (</strong><strong>£11.4m)</strong> in the case of big chances (eight) and goals (six).</p>
<p>Mitrovic&#8217;s goal tally is bettered only by <strong>Erling Haaland (£12.1m)</strong>, who is way out in front with 11.</p>
<p>Fulham&#8217;s fixtures are the third best up to Gameweek 12 in terms of attacking prospects, according to the Hub&#8217;s <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">fixture ticker</a>.</p>
<p>Their games are bettered in this regard only by Bournemouth up until the World Cup break.</p>

<h3>Dominic Solanke (£5.7m)</h3>
<p>With Bournemouth&#8217;s fixtures being strong from an attacking perspective, their talisman is our next pick.</p>
<p>The Cherries have lost three times so far this season &#8211; but those losses have come to Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool.</p>
<p>There are some red flags to be aware of.</p>
<p>Bournemouth sit bottom of the Premier League table when it comes to <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/a-simple-guide-to-opta-stats-for-fpl">expected goals</a> (xG) &#8211; their six goals to date represents an overperformance on their xG of 3.77.</p>
<p>Their players have taken the least shots (44) by some distance, ahead of Aston Villa in 19th on 67.</p>
<p>Solanke himself has only one goal and an assist in five appearances to his name.</p>
<p>But the Hub&#8217;s fixture ticker rates Bournemouth&#8217;s fixtures as the best for attack over the next four gameweeks and until Gameweek 16.</p>
<p>This has contributed to Solanke ranking sixth among forwards for predicted points between Gameweek 9 and 12.</p>
<p>All this must be put in context of what an investment in Solanke represents.</p>
<p>He is a significant saving on Isak and funds could be used to upgrade other areas of the squad.</p>

<h3><strong>Ivan Toney (£7.3m)</strong></h3>
<p>Toney would have been in many Gameweek 8 wildcarders&#8217; thoughts.</p>
<p>The Brentford frontman comes in slightly more expensive than Isak, money which may have been saved by those who sold <strong>Mohamed Salah </strong>for <strong>Kevin De Bruyne</strong> with the intention of bringing the Egyptian back in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>But if FPL managers are able and willing to make the £0.2m jump, Toney is a viable pick.</p>
<p>The Englishman has five goals and two assists this season, for a total of 47 FPL points.</p>
<p>He ranks fifth among the league&#8217;s forwards for shots in the box, fifth for xG and third for expected assists (xA).</p>
<p>The Bees face Bournemouth, Newcastle, Brighton and Chelsea in their next four games.</p>

<p>The Aston Villa man has scored once and assisted two so far this season and has an ownership of just 2% as a result.</p>
<p>His team have struggled for form and goals. Villa have an xG of 6.02, higher only than Bournemouth.</p>
<p>Watkins is however the pick of the Midlands side in terms of most Opta goal threat <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a>.</p>
<p>Aston Villa have reasonable fixtures coming up &#8211; Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Fulham &#8211; which rank above Brentford&#8217;s on the Hub&#8217;s fixture ticker for attack.</p>
<p>Watkins sits third on our four-man shortlist for predicted points over the next four gameweeks and seventh for forwards overall.</p>
