This article takes a deep dive look at the all important Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 32+ captain decision. It's written by our resident FPL captaincy expert Chris Tan who takes a close look at the fixtures, poll and stats breakdown before concluding on his best pick for the armband.
FPL Gameweek 31+ Captain Recap
Clean Sheets – eight out of the ten fixtures resulted in a Clean Sheet (CS), largely due to the fact that most sides aren’t pressing very high at the moment and are just getting men behind the ball, which is hard to break down. It might be worth going bigger at the back to take advantage of this and possibly consider captaining an attacking defender like Alexander Arnold or Doherty.
Form – United, Wolves, Liverpool, City and Chelsea have impressed me the most so far. City blew it against Chelsea but in these exhibition-style games they can destroy most sides.
How have we done to date?
It’s looking like the second pick and the punt are the way to go…
FPL Gameweek 32+ Captain - The Fixtures
Gameweek 32+ fixtures are a combination of Gameweek 12 and 14, here’s what happened last time:
Wolves v Aston Villa – another goal from Jimenez and an assist from Traore, not much has changed.
Southampton v Watford – goals from Ings and Sarr.
Burnley v Crystal Palace – a goal from the now injured Zaha.
Man Utd v Brighton – Rashford goal with two assists from Martial. It looks good for those on the double up.
Norwich v Arsenal – Auba got a brace in the return and this looks to be the stand out fixture.
Newcastle v Bournemouth – nobody of mention did anything in this one.
Leicester v Everton – the previous game had goals from Richarlison and Vardy for those itching to transfer them out.
Chelsea v West Ham – this was a rare Clean Sheet (CS) for West Ham.
Spurs v Sheffield Utd – Son and Baldock scored here.
Liverpool v Man City – both Salah and Mane scored here.
Twitter / @FFH_HQ FPL Gameweek 32+ Captain Poll
Who do our Twitter followers think is the best FPL Gameweek 30+ captain?
Old Hunting Ground – do any of the likely lads have a good history vs their opposition?
It’s not looking too good this week:
Auba – it’s a tiny sample but he’s the stand out option.
Jimenez – he’s so consistent.
Son – he’s always capable despite his left wing back role.
Salah – it’s the toughest game but City will only have three days rest after their FA cup game.
Rashford / Martial – both look reasonable candidates.
KDB – this will be a tough game against a Liverpool side that will want to be crowned champions and have had the whole week off.
Members Stats breakdown - FPL Gameweek 32+ Captain
These stats are pulled from the Fantasy Football Hub OPTA Stats tool that is available to all members to help you analyse the players and teams.
I have pulled data from the last two Gameweeks and displayed them as ‘per appearance’. This is to take account of the fact that a lot of players will have reduced minutes with five substitutions allowed. Please note that the sample is tiny and you can’t read too much into these stats.
