<p>Double Gameweek 34 is in full swing, with captaincy disappointments and big hauls a mixed bag for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) fans.</p>

<h2 class="mceTemp">FPL Gameweek 34: Captaincy favourite Salah benched</h2>
<p><strong>Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) </strong>was easily the most popular captain choice of the week, with three quarters of the game&#8217;s top 250,000 managers picking him for his double.</p>
<p>But Jurgen Klopp&#8217;s teamsheet for the Fulham match on Saturday dropped several bombshells, with Salah and <strong>Darwin Nunez (£7.8m) </strong>among those left on the bench.</p>
<p>Salah got 16 minutes, coming on for <strong>Luis Diaz (£7.8m)</strong>, but had no shots on goal. FPL managers will be hoping for much more on Wednesday against Everton.</p>
<p><strong>Diogo Jota (£7.9m) </strong>was instead Liverpool&#8217;s star man, recording a goal and assist for 12 points. <strong>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.4m) </strong>got 80 minutes and curled in a free-kick for nine points.</p>
<p>Like Salah, there was little joy for <strong>Bukayo Saka (£9.0m)</strong>, backed by 10%. Arsenal beat Wolves 2-0 but Saka was not involved in either goal, with just one of his four shots on target.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 34: Free Hit</h2>
<p>Around 20% of the top 250,000 managers had used their Free Hit chip going into Gameweek 34.</p>
<p>But that figure now stands at 96% &#8211; and there were plenty of points on offer for those who picked the right players.</p>
<p>Many without a Free Hit were still able to field a full set of doublers &#8211; or near it &#8211; thanks to popular teams including Arsenal and Liverpool playing twice.</p>
<p>More than 40% of the top 250,000 still have their Wildcard in hand but this figure should decrease significantly in Gameweek 35, when many top managers have planned to use the chip.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 34 injuries: Haaland misses City&#8217;s cup clash, Ait-Nouri returns</h2>
<p><strong>Erling Haaland (£14.2m) </strong>is a doubt for Manchester City&#8217;s trip to Brighton on Thursday after missing his team&#8217;s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea on Saturday.</p>
<p>Pep Guardiola was unable to confirm whether he would return in time for their league game. He said:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;He&#8217;s injured. I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s much but he&#8217;s not able for today. I don&#8217;t know [if he will be back for the next game].&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>The second FA Cup semi-final brought additional injury issues. Manchester United beat Coventry on penalties after letting a 3-0 lead slip.</p>
<p>But it was not without cost, as <strong>Marcus Rashford (£8.4m) </strong>and <strong>Scott McTominay (£4.5m) </strong>both hobbled off in extra time.</p>
<p>The Red Devils already had their share of fitness problems, particularly at the back, where <strong>Casemiro (£5.3m) </strong>had to fill in as a makeshift centre-back alongside <strong>Harry Maguire (£4.2m)</strong>, their only available senior centre-back.</p>
<p><strong>Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.8m) </strong>was another injury concern for fantasy managers going into Gameweek 34.</p>
<p>The Wolves full-back did not start against Arsenal but got 15 minutes off the bench. Gary O&#8217;Neil said he would &#8216;probably&#8217; start against Bournemouth on Wednesday.</p>
<p>O&#8217;Neil gave <strong>Matheus Cunha (£5.6m) </strong>an outside chance of making the midweek match but noted the forward had &#8216;quite a rare calf injury&#8217;, which made his prognosis difficult to predict.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 34: Palace put on an attacking show</h2>
<p>Our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-double-gameweek-34-fixtures-analysis">fixtures analysis for Gameweek 34</a> saw contributor Chris Tan big up the prospects of Palace, despite underwhelming recent <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a>.</p>
<p>He was confident West Ham would concede a high volume of shots, giving Palace&#8217;s attackers plenty of opportunities.</p>
<p>And that is how it played out, with Palace recording the third-most shots on goal of the weekend &#8211; 18 &#8211; and scoring five goals.</p>
<p>West Ham, who went out of the Europa League on Thursday, were 4-0 down within 31 minutes.</p>
<p><strong>Eberechi Eze (£6.1m)</strong>, <strong>Michael Olise (£5.6m) </strong>and <strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta (£5.1m) </strong>all managed double-digit hauls, with Mateta top scoring on 16.</p>
<p>Mateta led the league for shots on target (three) and big chances (three), while Eze had the most shots (seven) and efforts in the box (five).</p>
<p>Olise meanwhile created the most big chances (two), with a goal and assist putting him four points behind Mateta&#8217;s league-topping 16 points.</p>
<p>Oliver Glasner&#8217;s men have a home game on Wednesday against Newcastle and fantasy managers will be hoping for more of the same from the Eagles.</p>
<p>Eze was the most transferred-in player ahead of Gameweek 34, coming into 578,000 teams.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 34: Can Burnley make late charge for Premier League survival?</h2>
<p>It was a big weekend at the bottom of the table, with Sheffield United facing Burnley and Everton hosting Nottingham Forest.</p>
<p>There was minor interest in <strong>Ben Brereton Diaz (£5.0m) </strong>and <strong>Oli McBurnie (£5.4m) </strong>due to Sheffield United&#8217;s double gameweek, with some managers punting on them in their Free Hit teams.</p>
<p>But the Blades lost 4-1, with Clarets full-back <strong>Lorenz Assignon (£4.0m) </strong>the star thanks to his goal, assist and three bonus points.</p>

<p>Brereton Diaz had the joint-most shots on target of the weekend (three), while McBurnie missed a big chance before they went behind.</p>
<p>Both came away with two points but have another fixture against Manchester United to reward their backers, although a tight hamstring could affect McBurnie&#8217;s participation.</p>
<p>Burnley are now on 23 points, two behind Luton and three off Forest. Sheffield United are rooted to the bottom, 10 points from safety.</p>
<p>Injury-hit Luton were thrashed 5-1 at Kenilworth Road by Brentford, who had the highest expected goals (xG) of the weekend (3.13). It was their second 5-1 loss in a week, having suffered the same scoreline against Manchester City in Gameweek 33.</p>
<p>Everton secured a huge three points with a 2-0 victory over Forest, their 10th clean sheet of the season.</p>
<p>Forest were incensed however, blasting the failure to award them three penalties in an extraordinary Twitter post that could land them in hot water.</p>
